Since it's Sarah's House premiere week (discuss the living room makeover here), our Colour Inspiration comes from a bright and colourful bedroom from her recent series, Sarah 101.
Industrial Soul Bedroom
While Sarah Richardson and her design sidekick Tommy Smythe created this bedroom for a male client, I think it would also work just as well for a female client because of the pops of primary colour and neutral wall. Red, blue and yellow work well together in small doses and the large Persian rug grounds the space -- but it, too, has a reddish-burgundy palette with bit of blue. The white brick wall lends the room a neutral break from the colour.
This palette works for any age, but you need to love colour! And so you should, bold colours have been popping up in decor and fashion this year and Sarah herself breaks away from her traditional, softer palettes with this space.
Fuel red credenza, CB2 (coming soon to Canada, but they do ship here)
This credenza could be used as intended -- for dishware and dining room storage -- but it could also work well in a bedroom as a low dresser.
Robert Abbey Genie Silver and Yellow Ceramic Table Lamp, Lamps Plus; Knitted Pool Pouf, CB2
This cheery yellow lamp has similar curves to the vintage lamps Sarah used in her room. A bright blue poof can be used as a seat or even a low night table; store your book on it before going to sleep.
White Praire Tables, Gus Modern; Red Mosh Frame, Umbra
I love these tables in the shape of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. You could break them up and use them around the house, or you could keep them together and use them as a desk (with the flatter end towards you). A bright red photo frame would stand out against the white.
What do you think of this primary palette? Would you use bright colours in your home?
