At the beginning of Kids' Rooms Month, we asked you to please send us photos of your kids' rooms, nurseries, teen rooms, tween rooms...you get the point. Well, I just have to say a big thank you and a job well done to the folks who sent us photos, we love hearing from fans and readers. Let's check them out!
Lisa's Submission
Lisa Airdrie,
one of our Flickr members, shared the sunny yellow and white nursery
she designed for her son Cam, which includes great storage and an array of animal-themed decor -- classic choices for baby!
Camelle's Submission
Camelle sent us her daughter Amelia's bedroom makeover: My daughter's room had bright colours and stripes all over the walls. It lacked storage for toys and a place for her to do her crafts, which ended up with pen an glue on the bedding. We added a desk and shelves with baskets to hide and store toys. We painted trim out white and put a pale green on the walls. We used her favorite colour -- pink -- as the accent colour. Bedding, drapes and wall decor got a butterfly theme. I enjoy her room now because it is not so overwhelming with colour and pattern. it is fresh and clean looking.
Wendy's Submission
Wendy sent her son's nursery makeover: I wanted to share my son's nursery for your kid's room post. The room makes quite a dramatic before & after as the previous owners had an extensive mural covering every inch. I designed the room before he was born -- not knowing if he would be a "he" or a "she". I wanted a gender neutral, playful colour scheme that would last longer than his onesies!
I chose white & aqua with an accent of orange. The paint treatment for the walls includes an aqua ceiling & wide band of aqua around the small room. I brought in the orange accent colour through the bedding, alphabet painting, poms above his crib (in lieu of an actual mobile) and other little accessories.
Special touches in his room include: the antique family heirloom rocker with new upholstered cushions, the matching little rocker (which was mine as a child), a versatile clip mobile above his change table that acts as an evolving art gallery & my custom artwork (although I still need to add a painting or 2 above the crib!) I love his room because it is a bright & playful space filled with personal touches but mostly because he loves it too! I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I've done with his space.
Sarah's Submission
Sara shared her daughter Ella's sweet pink nursery with us on Facebook. With French-inspired accents, maybe a trip to Paris is in her future?
Sonia's Submission
Sonia shared her son's bright blue and green room: Vintage, styling and recycling are my inspiration words.
Bahy's Submission
Bahy shared her daughter's black, white and pink room: This is a picture of my 11 year old daughter's room. She helped with the color selection for the wall and the bedspread. She loves her room and invites her friends often to the room to sit and chat.
Lindsay's Submissions
Lindsay shared both her kids' room with us on Facebook: This is my son's rock n' roll nursery design that I did myself. The red drum set was the inspiration for the colour palette and the "theme." Hope you like it!
Another real kids room, this time my daughter's. A room fit for a princess that I designed just for her!
Nathalie's Submission
Nathalie shared her son's room, also in bright shades of blue and green: I wanted a modern feel room, not necessarily with a theme, but with things my toddler loves: animals, books, my grandmother's old rocking chair. I love this room because it's filled with my son's first art works, his favorites books and animals, my favorite bookcase from NurseryWorks! The colour was also picked out from a blue musical box I bought when I found out I was pregnant.
