Flickr Round Up: Members with DIY Design Aspirations

The new series Design DNA explores the history of iconic furniture like the La-Z Boy recliner and the classic Eames lounge and ottoman (watch these episodes and more online!). It brings to mind the "master craftsman" who earned his or her keep by producing quality furniture that lasts. While not everyone has the opportunity to commission handmade pieces, some of us are still willing to create something original to personalize our home. By us, I mean you -- our Flickr members.

Shelf

I have to start with g.bugel . While still in its infancy, this shelf (or piece of art, really) is a just few steps away from being the centerpiece of a room.

Bench

Cience just wants a bench to sit on while removing those steel toe boots. This handmade Mamah Boot Bench to be exact.

Chair, Side Table

On the left, Jakob E designed and constructed this chair for his son. Way to go dad! On the right, terren in Virginia made his own corner maple table with blood wood.Yes, that's blood wood.

Lamp

With his newly purchased four acre property and an abundance of logs and scrap lumber, Romair started on his first lamp-making venture.

Wouldn't it be nice to design your own furniture and have a carpenter bring your concept to life? Show us some of the unique pieces you've created and join our Flickr Group. Show HGTV your vision!
