New Web Series Launch: Model Home Showdown Premieres Today!

I can't tell you how excited I am to announce the launch of a big-time first for HGTV.ca...our new web series, Model Home Showdown, premieres today!

Back in the spring, Elana and I were hoping to shoot something, anything with the lovely and talented Cheryl Torrenueva, who you might recognize from stints on Colin and Justin's Home Heist, Restaurant Makeover and right here answering your Design Dilemmas for Style Sheet.

When Cheryl told us she was going to be designing a model home for Empire Communities from top to bottom, in a week, on a budget, we said, "That's web TV gold!" and hit the highway for Brantford, ON. Designer and former HGTV host Andrew Pike (Rooms That Rock) was also asked to design an Empire home and our show set-up was born: Two designers, two model homes, one week to finish them both!

Watch Cheryl and Andrew's journey as they pick finishes, deal with vandalism, cry over furniture delivery gone wrong, share their candid thoughts during the Confession Cam, decorate like maniacs and battle weather, stress, executives and each other to finish this very big project on time.

In Episode 1, Cheryl and Andrew establish their design styles, pick their finishes and choose upgrades at the Empire Communities Design Centre. Watch Episode 1 in the Video Centre now and stay tuned every Thursday for another new episode.

We'll have behind the scenes anecdotes, clips and design tips each week here on Style Sheet, so please come back to learn more and tell us what you think!

The video is fantastic. I can't wait to see future shows where I haven't already seen the finished product. Both homes are stunning.

It's great to see behind-the-scenes footage and just how difficult it is to design the inside of a house.

Thanks!

YEAH!!! Thanks so much for being there with Andrew and I throughout the whole process.  It brings back memories of stress and my favourite pair of Cole Haan booties completely covered in mud!  Can't wait to see next week's episode.

There's nothing like a good challenge of designing for a model home where choices might be limited to only partnered suppliers. It takes vision and talent to break out of the "model" look and can already see by the materials chosen that these homes will be fantastic. Cannot wait to see the next segment.
