Question of the Week: Would You Go Glamping?

Glamping in Ontario's Boreal Forest with Wild Exodus

If you haven't heard of glamping, it's basically glamorous camping, combining the great outdoors with all the luxuries of home  — and more. Think tents, yurts and caravans outfitted with actual beds, cozy linens and of course electricity. Like a hotel room, some of these accommodations may be fancier than your own home.

What do you think? Is it possible to enjoy the great outdoors when you're sleeping in 400-thread-count sheets?

What a load of garbage. The point of camping is leaving all that unnecessary crap behind

Stupid name.  But it would be a nice "me time" getaway.

I already do go "glamping". I have the comforts of home in our RV but enjoy the wonders of nature while hiking etc at a new campground or Provincial Park from May through to September.

Well, I think it's a bit silly to bring everything except the house, but I've given up camping because it's less fun than cottaging and the idea of sleeping on a more comfortable mattress, having a a nice hot (solar) shower and skipping the dehydrated food, has a certain appeal.  For people who never got into camping at all, this might be a way to experience some of the fun...

I spent my childhood being forced to go camping - waking up covered in earwigs and rainwater - and that was IN a tent. I think my childhood camping made me the 'princess' I am today. :)

If I was to camp again it would have to be 'Glamping'.

Glamping?  not even - I need my bed (off the floor), and my creature comforts - Roughing it means the Holiday Inn because they don't have room service.  If I go on vacation it's only a few days out of the year and I will NOT sleep on the ground and pick bugs out of my hair....

No Glamping, No Camping...Roughing it means the Holiday Inn 'cuz they don't have room service.  So very few days of true vacation in a year that I refuse to spend them on the ground and picking at bugs out of my hair...I'd rather "Spa'ing" it!!!

If you do not like the ''wild experience'', buy or rent an RV or a cottage... but this is stupid.  Who's the idiot who thought of this?

Absolutely- I love the great outdoors, fishing, hiking, canoeing, spotting wildlife- but hate sticky, stinky tents - I would so do this!

It needs a larger area carpet.. I might get slivers from that plywood... "-)  ..... otherwise I LOVE THIS!!  like an african safari in the wilds of Canada..... with servants!

In 1968 my family drove the Alaska Highway in our van, my father converted into a camper. Now back then, campers were vans that had a cot to sleep in. There was no running water, no kitchen and no facilities. At 10, this was roughing it. Alaska and the Yukon were still pretty undiscovered places in 1968. I climbed glaciers and swam in hot springs surrounded by trees. In 1991 I went portaging. I had the best of time with my family. To me, both are camping.
