Question of the Week: What's Your Cottage/Camping/Cabin Must-Have?

Everyone has their own idea of outdoor vacationing (which is the blanket term I'm going to use for going to the cottage, lake, camp, cabin, etc. -- I do love how regional the term is!). Whether you're sleeping in a tent or a bunkie, eating under the stars or in a gourmet kitchen (lucky!), we want to know what you can't live without. Is it a homemade quilt for chilly nights, the beach blanket you've been laying on since childhood, your favourite pancake recipe?

Personally, my must-haves include a pair of beat up, fringed suede ankle boots that are great for mosquito protection (they love ankle meat, no?) and traipsing through rainy-day mud, my trusty, though aged, sleeping bag and, yes, a bottle (or two) of Prosecco. It might seem indulgent, but at my annual ladies cottage weekend, we always start by popping a bottle and toasting the lazy days ahead. (I won't regale you with stories of the time we brought a case of Prosecco...)

So what say you, Style Sheet readers? What do you require for an outdoor vacation?

I actually think that camping is very different from cottage-ing/cabin-ing at the lake. My answer is for going to the lake cabin.

My grandmother made me an indestructable denim quilt which is essential for picnics on the grass.  Also don't forget the trusty hip length sun ice sunflower fleece hoodie circa 1992.

Simple -

A must have would be a frosty cold beverage (beer) lakeside.

I would say dog as well is a must have, although my best friend Chevy will be with me now only in my heart.
