Question of the Week: Three Outdoor Accessories We Love to Love...But Not Use?

Pottery Barn; ElitePicnicBackpacks blog; RugsDirect blog

We blog our hearts out about these very pretty outdoor accessories every summer, but in all honesty -- and the decor gods may strike me tasteless (ha!) where I sit -- how many of us have actually purchased and made use of them?

Take the three I have pictured above: lemonade/homemade juice dispenser, old-fashioned picnic basket and outdoor rug.  All three make for a great decor photo, but I have to admit, I've not yet gone ahead and bought any of them.

The lemonade dispenser may be just laziness on my part, but it would seem I'm not the only one -- I've not seen them at any of my friends' houses either. The wicker picnic basket has been a pet peeve of mine for a while after I received one as a gift -- just too precious.  Most of them don't really hold much, and I feel a bit silly carrying that romantic case to the park, along with a decidedly utilitarian cooler pack, with all my food in it. And then there's the outdoor rug.  How we love to talk about an outdoor rug. I do love the idea, and I do in fact know many who've invested, but I still have reservations. Our patio is flagstone and we've many a mature tree that showers all kinds of mess season to season -- don't those rugs get clogged with stuff? How often does one clean them? Can it really just be left out to face the elements?  I'm not convinced... Even if it survives a season, I don't see it holding up after I roll it up and stick in my basement.

Have you bought any of the above? Anything else you think fits in this category?

Take a poll on which you think is more loved than used!

Comments:

I am currently in the middle of buying things for my first real outdoor space. All of these things look great in the store, but where to house them in the winter months? Its just too much. The only thing I am going for is a deck box and some non-breakable wine glasses etc for my clumsier friends. Anything I need to clean more than hosing down and find storage for is no longer an option for my outdoor space.
