Magazine Review: Lonny June/July 2010

Elana mentioned Lonny magazine (which stands for London/New York) as one of her top 5 favourite decor magazines back in May. It's also one of my favourites, so without further ado, my review!

The Stats
Title: Lonny Magazine

Price & Availability: Lonny is a digital magazine, meaning it only exists online -- which also means it's free! You "flip" through it by clicking the arrows left and right. You can zoom in and out as well. It's the magazine of the future!

The Issue
Personally, I love looking at pages of products as they are, not just styled in a room. Lonny does this very well. In the Market section, you can click on product links to learn how/where you can purchase them, which is one of the cool benefits of a digi-mag (there, I've coined a new term unless someone else beat me to it).

There are close to 200 pages of homes to swoon over, with gorgeous photography (so key in a great design mag) and useful close-ups of creative vignettes and collections. Each story includes tips on recreating the style in your own home and the designers' favourite stores and inspirations. In this issue, learn how to bring beach style to your home, mix and match pattern and colour, renovate on a budget, fix up a rental (double-sided tape affixed to painter's tape on the wall means you can wallpaper without glue-- great idea!) and more.

The best thing I can say about Lonny that is it makes you want to rush home and redecorate -- not in an intimidating my-house-won't-look-like-that way, but in a I-know-I-can-do-it! way. The quality of the homes they feature and the photos they choose is very high and you'll want to bookmark and go back for inspiration every day.

Final Analysis:

You'll like it if

  • you love interior design
  • you love looking at pictures of people's homes
  • you love a modern + vintage, mix and match aesthetic

You may not like it if:

  • you're not interested in modern decor (that's really the only reason I can think of!)
