Dad It Up this Weekend at Jim Caruk's BIY Centers

Looking to make memories?  Or shame your dad by showing him up at a Build-It-Yourself workshop?  Thankfully, dads these days seem too busy sharing the household chores to really spend quality time in the workshop, and if your dad is one to really miss it, Jim Caruk's new Build-It-Yourself Learning Centers have just the ticket.

Opened just a few months ago in downtown Toronto and a campus in north Toronto, the BIY Centers offer courses on various home improvement, including basic construction -- masonry, plumbing, electrical -- to carpentry, finishing and decorating and design.  This weekend the Centers are holding a special workshop for Fathers Day, offering you and your dad (or any family member, really) a chance to build a Muskoka chair.

The workshop includes tips on tools and construction safety, and you get to keep your chair -- let's hope it works out.

In any case, it's quality time AND a present in one beneficial package.  Nice, no?

By the way, stay tuned for my interview with Jim Caruk, host of HGTV's Real Reno's at the launch of the Centers, coming end of this week!  Lots of good times to be had in that interview...
