Work = desk, yes, but it doesn't have to feel like a sentence. It's how you treat the area that determines the flow and energy of whatever your industry demands, and these days, home office space can be carved out of anywhere.
I'm looking for inspiration to create the perfect workspace. Some of our Flickr members have given us great ideas about how to integrate work into our domestic spaces, that won't send you running to the refrigerator in a desperate attempt to make working at home bearable...
Art Space
Steppie, on the left keeps the space neat and whimsical at the same time by integrating flowers and homey shelving. juliaguzman uses her sunroom for her creative space, which rather than a place to dump shoes and gardening tools, is the perfect use of the room. With an inspirational window view it looks like she has no problems being prolific.
Sewing Space
With minimal knowledge about sewing, except for an old brown sewing machine that used to sit on an old wooden table where my grandmother made clothes for the family, I'm impressed by this trend that has leaped into homes of today. Instead of paying big bucks for someone else’s taste, homeowners are feature their own handmade cushions or handpicked fabric for window treatments. With some additions to his plans from Keepsake Quilting, byathread’s dad, on the left, built her this spacious, workbench with lots of storage space for things like fabrics, threads, treatments, etc. Debsmuddle has a more updated machine than the one I remember and enough space on her corner desk to maneuver those pretty fabrics.
Media Space
Last but not least, and probably one that applies to more people today than years before is a media work space. For those of us who work in the biz or just want to keep up with technology trends, this is a bit drool-inducing. I am especially a fan of Schodts' space because I don't see any wires! The table is a perfect pedestal that leaves room for your legs and hides those pesky cords.
