For Mom Month, I asked mine what her favourite feature is in her house. My mom chose one of the home's oldest features almost immediately.
My parents' house was built in 1918 and stayed in the same family until my parents bought it in the '70s. My mom's favourite feature is a large, frameless, paneless window between the family room and the kitchen. The window was an original exterior feature of the house before my parents renovated in the '80s, adding a two-storey addition with a finished basement. They decided to keep the brick window as an interesting architectural detail and also because it allowed for some of the light from the new skylight in the kitchen into the windowless family room.
Here are some photos of the window from both sides, plus, a couple of photos of my sister clowning around during our Mother's Day photoshoot.
