Flickr Round Up: Refresh, Refurbish, Reupholster

This month HGTV has been focusing on green. This Flickr run, I decided to focus on a few R's of our own: refresh, refurbish and reupholster! Some of our members are consignment shopping, finding some durable, reusable pieces and bringing character into their homes.

Refresh With Paint

This side table from It's Great To Be Home has a lot character with its sexy legs and solid curvy frame. The punch of chartreuse makes it a fresh and clear focal point without going overboard.

Restore With Elbow Grease

Joe Drogos did the amazing restoration above. The dresser was found in an alley, stripped of its stickers, covered with a lacquer and stained more than once. The cost? The materials and a little sweat. Impressive!

Reupholster To Give New Life

pinkylarue found a vintage wooden dining set with modern lines and updated it with brightly colored leather seats.

Furniture with a story is always intriguing in any space. It’s a bonus to the planet that reusing, refurbishing or reupholstering is environmentally friendly. And let’s not forget the most appealing thing -- saving money! Join our HGTV.ca Flickr Group and you may see your great finds in an upcoming Round Up.

I just finished watching your episode where you decorate a diningroom in which you called country.  I do not know where you live, but evidently you've NEVER been to the country.  You should come to my small country town of Stanley, Virginia to see the REAL COUNTRY.  And yes the rooster plates would have been perfect because whether or not your co-host knows that it is what the country is all about and the way he turned up his nose offends me.  We here in the country are proud of our animals and yes they are the way we country people decorate our homes.  So again I invite you to come to the country, because  there was not one item in your diningroom that was country.  I''d love to show you country.  Oh, by the way I live in a town so small we still do not have a stop light.  Let me know if you want to see country.  Thanks, Betty Jean

I love country but I do not like animals on my walls. Flowers and fruits will also give  a room a country look and feeling. I love the way Sarah decorates. Every room she decorates leaves a very cool, light and relaxing feeling. I love watching everyone of her episodes. I feel I learn alot from her. Great job Sarah!!!

Listen, rooster plates are so 1972.  Even I know that.  These days, we prefer little rocks painted with big googly eyes.  Like the chartreuse side table a lot.

Indeed, the first side table is gorgeous.
