Live Blogging Event: Sarah's House Episode 7, Kids' Bedrooms

When you know it fits but not necessarily how, in comes Sarah to bring it to life. Last week’s large living room was tackled by mixing traditional antiques with modern pieces, textures and colour. This week Sarah and Tommy show me how to decorate for my son and daughter’s room. Join us tonight at 9 pm ET to see the kids’ bedrooms come to life.

It’s girls versus boys as Sarah and Tommy each take a child’s bedroom from studs to wonderful. Sarah’s girl’s bedroom is a study in pinks and purples and delicious comfort, while Tommy’s blue and green boy's room includes masculine touches like a weathered barn board ceiling. When finished both rooms are winners!

Let’s watch and chat together. Just click on "Make a Comment" in the window below (which appears once the episode starts). Because we know how much you love Sarah, this chat will be open for an hour after the show ends. You can also Tweet us @hgtvcanada and you can always catch up on all of the episodes, see gorgeous photo galleries and of course discuss your favorite topics in Alicia's Discussion post tomorrow morning.

As always, beautiful rooms but the obvious corporate sponsorship throughout the show is a major turnoff.

wish we had their budget!

Don't like the boy's ceiling. Spider heaven!

I've always wondered what happens to the furnishings... do they buy the house fully furnished?

April 20, 2010 9:23 PM

the sears stuff really is distracting and a bit sad

April 20, 2010 9:24 PM

Love the army blankets..... HBC blankets are great as well

April 20, 2010 9:24 PM

oh boy, pushing products much?

April 20, 2010 9:26 PM

Love the boy's room (bed positions and ceiling).......

I just love all the stuff that Sarah uses, but I wish there was a place or site that the public could look up to see the sources for Sarah's stores.

April 20, 2010 9:33 PM

I would love to know where these stores are where Sarah and Tommy find their treasures every week.

Love the show!!! Would really like to see some outtakes from the show too - Tommy is so funny.  Agree with the post above that 30mins goes by so fast that I'd love for the show to be an hour.   Look forward to watching next week.

I didn't like the pink/purple combo for the girls room .. i think pink/cream or even pink/taupe would've been much nicer .. yeah what's with the greenworks?? I've tried the dishsoap .. it sucked. And sorry the 'boys' bed was way too feminine .. and ferns on the curtains?? My son would rip them down and he's only eight.

Have to say - I was disappointed by both rooms in the end and the commercial plugs for Greenworks and Sears were beneath them.  Sarah might as well have held the spray bottle up and said "Buy this" - crass.  And the rooms - too bad because the others so far have been fantastic (!) - especially the living room and the entry.

I totally understand the `Teaming up thing`with Sears and Green Works - the behind the scenes of a product (Sarah is a product) needs business partners. Sarah you made smart choices!

I have always loved your work right from the start with Room Service - I enjoy watching you grow as time moves on. Your a very smart young women!

Loved the girls fabric!  Wish we could see a room done on more of a realistic budget!  And it would be nice to see more products used that are readily available to the general public.  I love all the funiture and fabric used I just find that it is hard to find those unique items when decorating my own home.  I would also love the show to be longer; 30 minutes minus commercials doesn't leave much time for the show.  Love the show!

Absolutly love your show and every room/house you have done...definitly not your average person budget though but nice to dream!!...I agree on the 30  min show to short an hour would be sooo much better!...Tommy is a riot more of him and his funny outbursts would be a bonus!!..Look forward to more decorating fun, your team is great...Thanks!

Love Sarah & Tommy. Great Show. NOT loving the blatent advertising for Sears & Greenworks though. Do you really have to sell-out this much?

Entertainment Canada did a spot on Sarah and the launch of her Para Paint Colours last night. I wonder if they are in stores yet?

I think the coordination of fabrics is genius, and the personality her and Tommy bring to "a box" is what we could learn from. I see that there is little storage ie, closet in these rooms. Perhaps as a weekend retreat it is not necessary, just like a cottage. (I have neither so not sure).

I also think the effort to buy 2nd hand and reuse is to be commended and the pieces are so perfect for this farmhouse.

I also have wondered what happens to all of the furnishings... Seems like alot to spend to "stage" a house for resale.  Also, I have never seen any mention of whether Sarah's two previous houses have in fact been resold, and if she made her money back on them..  If the furniture does not go with the house, where does it go?  That storage locker can't hold everything!!

Hello,

Here's a bit of info. Both of sarah's houses have been sold...but she lost a lot of money on #2 because of the economy. Also, she offers up the items (furnitured, etc) in the house to the buyer, for an additional amount on top of the sale price. In the first Sarah's House, the buyers wanted almost everything because they loved it so much.

Enjoy the rest of the episodes!

Although this whole farmouse look is not something I would want, it is so much fun to watch Sarah and Tommy choosing all these wonderful fabrics, accessories and paint colors that have nothing to do with "neutral palettes". I don't think  I can watch another show or read another decorating mag article about "neutral palettes" with a "pop of colour"! It's really refreshing to see these pros working with wonderful colours - so much fun! Thanks Sarah and Tommy!
