Model Home Tour: What Your 3-Bdrm New-Build Could Look Like

Alicia and I have been stealthily tweeting and dropping hints about our Model Home series starring HGTV alums Cheryl Torrenueva and Andrew Pike, soon to debut on HGTV.ca.  Cheryl and Andrew were retained by Empire Communities, a large Southern Ontario developer, to decorate two model homes in their sprawling Wyndfield residential community, in Brantford, Ontario.  Believe it or not, there are lots of things people don't know about decorating a model home, and Alicia and I filmed the whole, nerve-wracking, budget-busting process for you to enjoy, here on the site!

While we shall save Andrew's and Cheryl's very different but equally exciting homes for the series, we photographed another model home that will be making its debut along side the others, this month. (The homes are currently in early pre-sale mode, but the grand opening is yet to come.)

The following home is approx. 2,300 sq. ft., and priced around $300,000 -- depending on architectural choices and finishes. We found it to be very streamlined, verging on "boutique chic".  Both Alicia and I have seen some model homes in our time (we shared stories about how both of our parents loved to drag us around model homes on the weekends, for fun) and looking at this home, noted that model home design has come a long a way.  What do you think?

Hi, I would love to know where the lighting is from. Very nice.

Chandelier over the tub?  Not to Code in most jurisdictions.

It looks fairly well laid out, although I have no idea where the entrance is. Interesting lighting and love the separate shower in the master bath. It looks comfortable. (and as a west coaster, I love the price!)

I have one comment for designers. Microwaves are being installed over the stoves more and more. There is no place to put whatever is coming out of the microwave except on the stove, which may also be in use. AND it is very difficult for short people (and there are LOTS of us) to reach it (especially heavy items) without a step stool.

Hi everyone, I'll see if I can get in contact with the designer to answer your questions. Thanks!
