Spring Schedule: New Shows and Seasons Starting Monday!

As you know by now, our first batch of spring programming is underway: new seasons of Home To Flip, Sarah's House and Dear Genevieve have already begun as well as new shows like The Outdoor Room with Jamie Durie and Curb Appeal: The Block. Well, spring is officially here now and so is the rest of our spring schedule, read the details below.

New Show

Relocation: Phil Down Under premiering on Friday April 9 at  9:00pm ET
Get ready for more of our favourite British bloke! Phil Spencer goes in search of ideal homes for British families relocating to Australia.  Each week Phil helps a British family moving abroad to Australia by looking at the properties, jobs and culture available in different regions. He also helps them work their way through the Australian property system by surveying, valuing and then negotiating a deal to secure their new home. The series profiles some of Australia’s most amazing properties including penthouses, old aboriginal dwellings, secret cliff hideaways and beach houses.

New Seasons

For Rent Season 3 starts Monday, April 5th at 8pm ET

From the recent grad in need of a pad, to newlyweds yearning to escape their six roommates, join real estate agent and rental expert, Jodi Gilmour, as she guides desperate but hopeful renters to a home that fits their expectations and budget…  And then performs magazine-worthy makeover miracles on a dime.

Holmes Inspection New episodes from Season 1 start Thursday, April 15th at 9pm ET

Holmes Inspection features Mike Holmes and his foreman Damon Bennett as they shine a spotlight on innocent homeowners facing massive repair bills and dangerous living conditions due to incompetence within the unregulated home inspection industry. Each show offers a unique dilemma faced by house purchasers who, misled by a vague or evasive home inspection, now face a daunting renovation or potential health threat.  Disillusioned and now distrusting, they call in Mike Holmes to give them a personal Holmes Inspection and assessment, and to MAKE IT RIGHT™.

House Hunters International New season starts Friday, April 9th at 8pm ET

Home hunters and their realtors check out all sorts of architectural styles and work through the idiosyncrasies of buying real estate in other countries. In any language, home buying is an emotional experience.

The Property Shop Season 2 starts Wednesday, April 7th 8:30 ET

Real estate agent-turned-broker Tatiana Londono is risking her six-figure salary to open up her own agency. In her quest to rise to the top of the urban real estate world, Tatiana relentlessly takes on the “big boys” – the national real estate companies. Get the inside scoop as Tatiana works the deals that her new agency depends on, while managing a team of junior agents hungry to make a killing. Lauded by her peers as the “Gordon Ramsay of real estate,” Tatiana has a personality people either love or hate – or hate to love. Can this ballsy wife and mother rise to the top of the urban real estate game and have it all? Fresh, edgy, and completely addictive – just like Tatiana herself, The Property Shop is open for business.

Again, nothing like announcing the new season last minute.

I can't understand why this For Rent show is popular?  Maybe only in Toronto this show would be some what interesting. Generally, in Canada there are no realtors that help people find Rentals.  Really.

Its awesome to see Property Shop back!!  Why Tat is annoying, she is fun to watch.  I am excited.

But, I'd like to know if Buy Me is coming back?  And Designer Superstar Challenge?  Real estate shows are great, but they are better if they are focused in Canada.

I miss Colin and Justin too.  Saturday nights are awful now.

April 7, 2010 8:53 AM

i would like to see more gardening and landscaping shows.

April 7, 2010 9:11 AM

I definitely miss Colin & Justin too! They're the best, totally LOVE them! I still watch all the reruns though, can't get enough of them!

We realy need more 'GARDENING' shows, it seems that the content is 75% or more 'home"  renovations and sales or rentals  and not nearly enough gardening and landscaping.Do we not have any more Canadian content gardening shows avaible?

April 7, 2010 9:55 AM

Where's Carter?, we need more more shows like Yard Crashers, Curb Appeal, We have bought houses now we need help in fixing them up!!!!!!!

April 7, 2010 10:19 AM

I agree with lots of people here.  We need more gardening shows!  Winter and summer.  In the winter it is nice because you can't get out on the garden and this way you get the feeling of it.  And in the summer we need new inspiration for our gardens...  Please???

Hi everyone, thanks for the feedback. We asked the acting director of programming in a video interview why there aren't as many gardening shows on HGTV. Copy and paste this link to hear her answers.

I would like to see more gardening shows.

April 7, 2010 11:32 AM

I would love more gardening shows. I really missed the shows of 2000-2001-2002:Gardening with Mark Cullen,Calling all Gardeners with Kathy Renwald,Gardener's Journal etc.........

There is almost nothing about gardening techniques. A lot of my friends would like more gardening shows too.

April 7, 2010 1:50 PM

I love Sarah's House- keep it coming!

April 7, 2010 3:24 PM

Love anything Sarah - I can never watch enough of her and Tommy everything they do is so inspiring - but I do miss the Design Inc crew too.   Peter Falico love all his designs and have followed him threw his different Home series - keep him coming.

Why oh why can't they do more shows based in Vancouver...please visit we too have lots of projects need doing...  Ever since HGTV started carrying Extreme Home Makeover I have had to look else where for the kind of programming I love - like Food Network - Slice - Womens and others...please stop carrying that over the top show.  Gardening programming would be a great addition to your line up!  Lastly Phil Spencer - ya he is not hard to watch - glad to hear he'll be on more.

April 7, 2010 4:51 PM

Where are Colin and Justin? I'm gutted they aint in this line up. Gutted.  Would love to see a new show with them. Come on. What's the deal? Where are they? xx

April 7, 2010 6:14 PM

The link to the answers on why there aren't more gardening shows doesn't seem to work......can you help?

April 7, 2010 7:07 PM

No Handyman Superstar Challenge this spring? Bummer!

April 7, 2010 7:55 PM

Love all Sarah Richardson does. Tommy makes me laugh. Also enjoy house to flip with Peter Falico.

Do not miss Colin and Justin.

Hope you keep up the great work at H.G.T.V.

April 7, 2010 7:59 PM

Other than house hunters....please just give us more Canadian shows on HGTV.CA.  Extreme Makeovers, Carter, etc., are over the top and not about decorating but rather about melodrama in its worst form.  Design Inc., Sarah Richardson, Designer Guys, Pure Design, etc., are so much more sophisticated and real.

April 7, 2010 8:14 PM

Can't stand Sarah Richardson, hate Colin & Justin, Love Bryan, Carter and of course Ty. Used to watch Outside room got great ideas there. Need more backyard shows. Thanks

April 8, 2010 7:43 AM

I don't miss Colin and Justin.  I didn't mind their designs, but I couldn't stand them.  More Pure Design, Bryan, Sarah and Sandra please!  And more Canadian based programming!

April 8, 2010 11:28 AM

Happy to see Phil Spencer back on HGTV with a new show.

On the other hand, I have to agree with other comments that HGTV doesn't have enough gardening shows.  Love to have them all year round.  Thanks for giving us great TV.

April 8, 2010 3:21 PM

I stopped watching because I am tired of all the Toronto/Ontario programming. Canada is more that just one province! How about more regional stuff? And less about renovations or buying homes - we're over that already.  Maybe something on collecting, or garage sales, or (gasp) how about something about crafts? Store like Michaels seem to be doing quite well with all the people buying stuff to decorate their homes - but this channel seems to ignore it.

Do you know there are more knitters than golfers?

Surely we can put together a dynamic program showcasing how Canadians really live and what they are really doing? We love to look into other people's homes! (That's one of the reasons Hoarders or Buried Alive,  etc are such popular shows.

Remember Arthur Black and Weird Homes? We'd love to know more about how people are living in Glace Bay or Halifax or Edmonton. Showcase some cool shops, where to buy guides. City living, or suburb living or country living across the country. We've seen enough of Toronto thank you very much.

April 10, 2010 11:53 AM

I really wish that, even just one, of the HGTV Canada shows would go outside the GTA - seeing as the rest of the country watches these shows.   Coundn't a show occasionally go on location!  for those who don not live in Toronto or Cancouver what do you think.   Wouldn't it be nice to be able to be considered????

April 10, 2010 12:34 PM

I don't live in Toronto, but love the Toronto based programs...the designs are transportable.  Just give us more Canadian...with the exception of Location, Location, Location.

April 11, 2010 9:55 AM

I totally agree that there should be more gardening and outdoor shows in the spring and summer.  There are too many real estate shows on HGTV as well.  I want lots of Canadian content!

April 11, 2010 10:47 PM

Me, my Mom and both my sisters are big Colin and Justin fans.  I read theyre making a new show in The UK but we need them back here.  Charming men.  Do I need to get a petition up or something!!!!! Bring back the Scotch gentlemen!!

I like only gardening shows, that's all Im up for.

April 15, 2010 2:32 PM

The shows I really like are those with Sarah, Colin and Justin and Mike Holmes. Theyre all my guilty pleasures and all so different.  Guess that's what makes HGTV a good network.

I really enjoy HGTV and most of its programming. Enjoyed watching Ambrose Price last year, hope we haven't seen the last of him. Not a fan of the U.S shows, would much rather see more Canadian. All in all, keep up the great work!

April 19, 2010 7:12 PM

I watch for Sarah R, Mike Holmes and Colin and Justin.  A real mixture but my three best recommendations. Are they all part of the new schedule? I hope so.

Warm wishes,

Veronica xx

Sarah's House is wonderful. I love her and of course Tommy. And I'd like to add my voice to the masses crying out for more gardening shows. It boggles my mind that there are almost none! It would be a fantastic thing to be able to watch more gardening programming, most especially in the winter months as this is when many gardeners are planning/dreaming/longing for their gardens. Please please please give us a more balanced program guide. I don't see how this is a home and garden network when it is pretty much 95% home...
