Green Watch: Personal Water Filter Bottle

This is such a clever little gizmo and it’s good for the environment.

OK, you say, but what the heck is it? Well my friends it’s a personal water filter bottle with its own replaceable filter.

The water filter lives in the top half of the bottle. You unscrew the bottle and fill the bottom half with tap water then as you drink from the spout, the water filters through. It took me awhile to figure it all out, mostly because I didn’t look at the pictured instructions, but it’s really easy to use. It got the whole office talking when I casually filled it up in our communal kitchen.

The only drawback is that it makes a loud sucking noise when you drink – not a pretty sight or sound especially in an office setting. But I’m willing to make a fool of myself if it means I can enjoy refreshing filtered water without resorting to plastic bottles or lugging my Brita around.

It holds about three cups and is Biophenol A free.

President’s Choice Personal Water Filter bottle retails for $10 (bottle) and $12 for 3 replacement filters. Available at Loblaws store.

Green Watch is a new monthly feature highlighting sustainable design and decor.
