Bargain Saturday: Wine Bottle Candle Holders

I have a really hard time sending pretty wine bottles to the recycle bin. I just want to hang on to them for a little while, even if they just make my wine rack a little fuller for the moment. Sure, you can stick a candle in a pretty bottle and be done with it... We've all done that, right? (It was one of my go-to affordable designs when I was in college.) But, here are a couple of things you can try out to hold onto those bottles for a little longer (with the help of a glass cutting kit).

Left: You can buy these oversized wine bottle hurricanes at napastyle.com, but there's no reason you couldn't make them yourself. These ones have huge pillar candles inside. Cutting the bottle off the bottom of a normal sized wine bottle and putting a tea light inside would give you the same look.

Right: This idea comes from design sponge. Try cutting your bottles to different sizes and heights and arranging them to get the look you're going for.

Additionally, if you like the idea of using recycled materials in your home, but aren't interested in taking the time to craft your own, these are lovely. (TranSglass Recycled Vases and Glassware)

Oooo I love!  I knew I was saving my green wine bottles for a reason.  Really, I've a full cupboard of interestingly shaped wine bottles for future projects.  Also, those TranSglass vases are available at Vancouver's Provide decor store.

This sounds like a very great deal.

I LOVE WINE AND IT WOULD BE SO COOL TO BE ABLE TO VISIT.

This is a great idea that has come back again with a twist.  During the early 60's we collected the Chianti bottles (in the rush baskets) and let the candles drip down the sides of the bottles.  We thought we were "hep."  This recycleable take is stylish and sleek.
