From Our Twitter: Reactions to Pantone's Colour of 2010...Turquoise!

Happy Saturday readers! It was a busy week on our Twitter feed (won't you please follow us @hgtvcanada?) as some big design news hit the internet. Pantone, the world-renowned and widely-respected expert on colour and colour trends, announced their pick for the colour of 2010: Turquoise 15-5519, a bright, cheerful shade that, to quote the experts, "Transports Us to an Exciting, Tropical Paradise While Offering a Sense of Protection and Healing in Stressful Times."

Your friendly neighbourhood blogger, Elana, immediately announced her love (watch out for her turquoise-inspired gallery next week) and our Twitter followers also agreed:

@JoannaGabriele said: Turquoise and yellow is one of my favs! Also turquoise and lime! What a great combination!

@ellaandelliot, a design store here in Toronto focusing on modern kids' decor said: Exciting - it's our signature colour!

@TSOLaura said: Love as an accessory paired with red.

@waterloorheater said: I like it! So tropical.

@KarenBC said (simply): Nice!

Check out this room from season 1 of Pure Design with turquoise-esque accents throughout -- what do you think?

Personally, I like the turquoise, but unfortunately it doesn't go with anything I currently own, so I won't be using it (makes me want to stick to neutral decor in my next home). Do you pay attention to colour trends or stick to what you like?

If you're on Facebook or Twitter and you like us, you really like us, become a fan or a follower! The social media movement is growing every week -- we're up to 6,808 Twitter followers (about 100 new Tweeps a week!) and 1,045 Facebook fans (about 35 new fans a week). So thanks to everyone for joining up.

Next week, there'll be another round of Makeover Match-Up on Facebook and it's time to share our holiday photos (so get out the camera and start clicking!).

I love it! I actually use quite a lot of turquiose as accent colour around my house. And I even have a very pale version of it on my walls. I've always loved it in all it's shades and I find it goes beautifully with my other favourite accent colour - red. Glad I'm not going to need to do much updating this year to stay current.

Turquoise is one of my favorite colours, goes great with grey, white etc.

I love it.  I have turquoise walls in my living and dining rooms.  They look great with my white ektorp chaise and loveseat from Ikea!

Call me crazy, but I have a pink kitchen!  I live alone and have what I call a 'girly house', and will probably have to repaint it in boring beiges if I ever plan to move.
