New Fall Premieres and Returning Favourites!

It's that time of year -- the leaves are starting to turn, crock pots are being dusted off, sweaters are emerging from storage -- and TV is back! We're pretty excited about the new HGTV fall schedule kicking off on Monday, so without further ado, here are the new shows and the returning favourites.

New Shows

Holmes Inspection

Premiering on Thursday October 1 at 8pm ET

Mike Holmes helps homeowners who have been duped by terrible home inspections.  He will uncover what went wrong with the inspection and with the help of his construction team he will make it right.

We'll be attending the premiere party (maybe there'll be a Mike Holmes sighting!) and Tweeting during the event and during the first episode on Thursday, October 1. Visit our Twitter page .

Family Renovation

Premiering on Thursday, October 1 at 9pm ET

The Grant family is moving again. With five children under the age of 10, mom Marie France has a clear idea of how she would like old style elegance to meet modern function and amenities. This strong-willed woman wants to act as general contractor and live in the house while the renovation is taking place. It's a story fueled by construction chaos, family tension and looming deadlines. Is this a recipe for disaster?

Real Estate Intervention

Premiering on Wednesday September 30 at 8:30pm ET

In this current real estate market, pricing is everything. And the best way to really find out how much your house is worth is to check out the competition. Real Estate Intervention takes motivated sellers on a tour of three other listings in the same area and same price range. They'll get to see firsthand who their competition is and whether they've priced their house right. We'll help them determine the best way to get top dollar — and in the end we'll see which home sells first!

The Unselllables UK

Premiering on Wednesday September 30 at 9:30pm ET

Following the original hit Canadian series on HGTV featuring Sofie Allsopp, The Unsellables UK travels across the pond to help desperate Brits off-load their ‘unsellable’ properties. Will a slick home makeover and crafty sales campaign finally deliver them from their real estate purgatory? Packed with practical advice and tips to add real value to your house, The Unsellables UK shows viewers how to transform their unwanted property into an unstoppable home.

Carter Can

Premiering on Monday September 28 at 5pm ET

Carter Oosterhouse helps homeowners resolve their renovation dilemmas with his extensive carpentry skills and innovative ideas for easily incorporating green design. No home project is impossible when Carter is in the house.

House Poor

Premiering on Monday September 28 at 8pm ET

With housing prices soaring these days, it’s no wonder that most of us have mortgages through the roof.  This show tackles home owners with lots of house debt and helps them to find ways out of it.  We put them through finance boot camp so that they end up with a plan and also have the house of their dreams.

Another disappointing season.  Enough real estate, already!  Please return to the "how to" shows that feature projects that normal people might actually be able to make on their own.  Decorating and design for indoor and outdoor spaces, crafting-type shows, gardening, hands-on shows.  More American shows rather than European - our lifestyles are more akin to our neighbours to the south -  I will NEVER have a washer/dryer in my kitchen and I have a "normal" fridge, not the midgets common in UK kitchens.

I agree about less of continental get-aways & more of practical how-to.

What happened to 'Small spaces' & 'Home to go' & one where a group of women came in & simply moved things around.......interesting & do-able from the average home-owner or renter's viewpoint.

Why would I want to watch a show where the master bath is bigger than my front room?  That's just consumerism at its' worst.......or some may say sour grapes!

Still I agree 100% with Barb on the (hopeful) content of shows. As much as I love Sarah Richarson, even she is going over the top. How would you LIVE in some of these places? By the time Candace Olsen finishes accessorizing, there' no room to move...........get the point? Give us .....space......to move & live & make a little mess!!

What is with changing the name of "Holmes on Homes" to "Holmes Inspection".  When we love and enjoy the show and format please don't change the name.

I prefer the British Shows. I wish there were new episodes of Relocation, Relocation and LLL - Phil and Kirsty were such a great team. I like Sophie so I'll continue watching her and look forward to the UK version of her show. I like Matt James -very watchable repeats. Sarah is always great even if the shows are repeats as well. The shows I mention are my idea of perfect style and substance, form and function. Holmes does NOT do it for me and i don't think we do real Estate programs as well as the British. I think i should move.

September 26, 2009 5:33 PM

I think i may have spoken too soon. It looks like a new season of Relocation Relocation is starting. All that show up in the schedule is Season VI - 6001. I checked The Lifestyle Channel (Australia) and the Episode description is:

Stef & Dom

It’s New Year 2009 and the property market has never looked so confusing. With property prices on the decline and the number of houses being bought and sold at rock bottom it’s easy to believe that the market is completely dead.

This has never aired here. Fingers crossed!

I love Mike Holmes, I really do!

He is great ONCE A WEEK!

But for goodness sake! Enough is enough! We don't need to see him all the time. HGTV is turning into MikeHolmesTV.

September 26, 2009 10:21 PM

Gutted that I don't see a new season of Homes Heist from Justin Collin? Thats so good fun to see on TV.

Also I would enjoy Relocation made in Canada too!

September 27, 2009 7:04 PM

No Home Heist?  Sigh...

September 27, 2009 8:15 PM

Where oh where are the new episodes of Design Inc.  I haven't had HGTV very long and have already seen every epispode! Please give me something new!  She must of had that baby by now.  ...................... I miss Sarah

September 27, 2009 11:16 PM

What - no new shows from Sarah??  She's my favourite!

September 28, 2009 10:16 AM

Agreed, a lot of real estate shows! I understand Srah Richardson is doing a third whole house reno/decor show and would like to know it's start date.

Used to like Mark Cullen's gardening shows, lots of usable info.

September 28, 2009 1:38 PM

Sarah is working on a new season of Sarah's House! Watch for it as part of our Winter 2010 schedule.

September 28, 2009 4:28 PM

I agree with you about Mike Holmes, everytime I turned HGTV on he's on!!

September 28, 2009 7:10 PM

Pure Design - that's the one with Samantha who also writes for the magazine?  Ok I like that show.  I totally get what everyone else is saying about so many property shows, that's why I like Pure Design, all design.  I hope so anyways.

September 28, 2009 11:20 PM

Saw House Poor. Really liked the show but wayyyy too much money talk.  Want to see more reno and construction.

September 29, 2009 8:26 AM

It's great to see so many people LOVE Sarah Richardson's shows as much as I do!

I am looking very forward to Sarah's House 3 and more Design Inc. if possible...Keep up the good work Sarah, Tommy and team, your style is inspirational!

First of all II really like HGTV Canada.  My only complaint is that I feel it should be called HGTV Toronto.  Most of the castings calls are for the GTA area (by the way I am not interested in being on TV). It seems that the other favoured cities are Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver and Muskoka country.  So, if you live anywhere else in Canada you are out of luck. I understand  a lot of it has to do with budgets.  We need some focus on  rest of Canada though.     Come on HGTV show us that you care about the rest of us.  We have such a beautiful country.

I really like real estate shows and am glad to see some of them returning including Property Virgins, House Hunters, and Relocation, Relocation. I love Relocation, Relocation due to all of the acreages which is something I dream of someday owning.  I agree with another poster in that it would be awesome to have a Relocation, Relocation Canada where people wanted similar properties!

I am not very interested in decorating shows for the most part and would probably never watch HGTV if that's all that was on.  I find these shows boring and I am pretty much never a fan of the styles shown.

I also watched House Poor and I enjoyed it.  I liked the discussions about money.  One thing that I do agree with however is that HGTV station is too focused on the Toronto area.  It would be nice if there was more focus on other areas of the country.

October 3, 2009 4:40 PM

Excited about some new shows.  I recently watched:

House Poor - decent show, I wish there would be a follow-up or a stronger plan.

HGTV Top Ten - just love seeing these beautiful homes

Pure Design - love her show

Income Property - love this show

Can't wait to see Sarah in the winter but these shows will hold me down for now...

October 6, 2009 8:44 AM

Anyone know what's happened to Big City Broker?

October 9, 2009 1:08 PM

Is there any plans to bring the Ambrose Price show back??? I really miss that show. I know it's now in the U.S but I cannot find it anywhere. Please bring it back!

October 9, 2009 2:59 PM

Big City Broker usually airs new episodes in the Spring.

I hope we get to see Real Renos again, and a new season of Property Shop - is that on the way?!

And what happened to Buy me. There hasn't been new episodes in two years!

October 9, 2009 10:22 PM

Oh and Mike Holmes... its on WAY TOO MUCH.  Its like filler TV programming. when you have nothing else to air, just put on Mike.

I personally don't care for Pure Design, I find it boring. And House Poor is too negative to watch in this economy.  And i am glad that Peter Fallico is not on TV this season.  Hope he's not on again in the Winter, unless he's butched up and cut his hair.

October 9, 2009 10:24 PM

I am sick and tired of repeats and Mike Holmes - I like some real estate shows but there are too many now. What happen to all the crafts shows and Home to Go (my favorite - learned many new ways to do things in my house). If you ever watch HGTV in the U.S., they have a good variety of everything - so why not here?! Also they do think Toronto (&GTA), then Vancouver, then Montreal are the only cities in Canada - wake up Producers on HGTV, everyone in Canada watchs your station and have the same issues. HGTV's Top 10 bugs me, who cares how rich people live????? How about producing shows for the average person (good example is Cityline, they do average things for average people). Sarah Richerson is good to watch but liked her more when she did small scale stuff and show edus different projects that we all can do. Show us more of what you can get on HGTV in the US and contests equivilents that they have too!!!!!!!!!! Casting calls for across Canada too.........

October 12, 2009 7:46 PM

I would like to see more home designs using a budget and enough with all this real estate.. what happened to Design Inc.I have followed Sara since she was on Savoire fare right through to Sara's Cottage, I do hope she comes back, she is the bomb of home decorating oh can't forget Tommy, they make a good team.. but also what happened to Small Spaces, Home to Go, Home to Stay, and Shabby Chic with Rachel..they do need to put these shows back on cause really they show how to put it together and where to find it, like when they go to the stores and show you the items not just tell you, and really, I don't mind Pure Design, but prefer Sara more ....

October 14, 2009 10:15 PM

I agree with most of the comments here. Sarah Richardson is wonderful and Samantha Pynn seems to be finding her groove more this season. I enjoy Mike Holmes(as do my husband) but we both feel that it is on way to much. Not really sold on his new inspection show, it's a little dry to be honest. I really enjoyed Ambrose Price, Small Spaces and of course Home Heist. Take a break from all the real estate shows and bring back a little personality for us to enjoy.

Thanks for allowing me to voice my opinion, and be sure to keep up the great work! All in all, we love HGTV!

I'm enjoying this season of Pure Design, it's always a pleasure to watch.  I agree about taking a break from the whole Real Estate theme, it was over kill last year.  HGTV made many mistakes last season, shows like "The Decorating Adventures of Ambrose Price" and "Petal Pushers" were quit frankly just stupid.  I'd like to see more shows on organization and decorating for small condo living.

October 20, 2009 10:56 AM

just wondering if there are any gardening shows on this season at all...am I missing something? where can I find City Gardener, Green Force, and Dirty Business? maybe give Mike (Holmes) a break and show us someone making positive shows, not just complaining about the same issues over and over
