The Ontario College of Art+Design in Toronto has really pumped up its presence on the institutional scene (that kind of makes me laugh -- "institutional scene".) It could have something to do with the AMAZING Sharp Centre for Design at 100 McCaul Street (Alsop Architects), but not entirely.
The building was designed as a creative space to inspire more creativity, and that is what OCAD does every day. Well starting tonight at 6:30pm, and all through the weekend, you can get a glimpse of what their students have been up to at the Discover OCAD+94th Annual Graduate Exhibition (main campus.)
Photos from last year's exhibition.
Amidst traditional and applied artwork, you can get a good fix of industrial (including furniture) design of the likes of these two OCAD students, with whom I caught up at this year’s IDSO9;
While I can’t say who’ll be exhibiting, I’m sure there’ll be plenty to kick start the old noggin on exploring new ideas about design.If you do go, let us know what you thought!
