In this week's episode of Sarah's Cottage, Sarah Richardson tackles her cottage kitchen space with rustic gourmet charm. Patterned vintage tiles are used on the backsplash and Sarah's personal monogram gets carved into all of the cabinetry in order to create some fun and whimsy in the space.
Sarah reveals how sacrifices don't always have to be made when living off of the grid by installing top of the line appliances that are powered by solar panels outside of the cottage. She uses three different colours on all of the kitchen cabinetry in order to open up the space, provide visual interest and to show us that a dynamic color palette can be functional and effective in a cottage kitchen.
I love the combination of stainless steel appliances and distressed metal hardware juxtaposed against all of the various wood textures because it instantly contemporizes the kitchen and helps to convey a feeling of simple country elegance. If all cottage kitchens looked like this we would all be happily living off the grid!
