We've all got lots of stuff, right? Some of it we like to tuck away, but some of it needs a place to be showcased.

- Material: the IKEA bookcase (below, right) is lighter, made mostly from particle board and fibre board
- Colour: IKEA offers up this bookcase in a few different colours: black-brown, birch effect and white; Crate and Barrel's unit is only available in a graphite lacquer finish
- Price: at $99, IKEA's EXPEDIT bookcase is a steal. But if you're looking for a larger unit and a great metallic finish, the Shadow Box Tower from Crate and Barrel is a definite splurge at $799US.
