Question of the Week: Would You Decorate with Barbie's Designer Furniture?

In celebration of Barbie's fiftieth anniversary, the Bay recently opened The Barbie Signature Shop at their Toronto Queen Street location where shoppers can experience the ultimate Barbie lifestyle extravaganza for a limited engagement of two months.

I visited The Barbie Signature Shop this past weekend and this pop-up store showcased everything from designer Barbie dolls and clothing to furniture and home furnishings. Canadian designer Glenn Dixon designed an extensive collection of Barbie furniture and home furnishings to include sofas, armchairs, ottomans, occasional chairs. vases, trays, boxes, frames, accent pillows, mirrors, bowls, decorative objects, bedding, sheets, pillows, shams, duvet covers, bed skirts, towels, vanity sets, shower curtains, bath mats. candles, lamps, sconces, and chandeliers. If you could visit Barbie's Dream House these are the furnishings and furniture that you would find in her home. Although, this collection may not be for everyone I thought that overall these pieces were fun, contemporary and chic.

Which leads me to ask this Question of the Week: would you decorate your home with Barbie's Designer Furniture and Home Furnishings?

I find most of this stuff to be, while whimsical, a little too pink for my tastes (although pink is my favourite colour). However; if I had a dressing room all to myself, I'd totally put the first chair in there. Love.

I'm actually kind of impressed.  I expected it to be WAY tackier.

Although I loved Barbie as a child and still truly believe that if I have the right outfit I can be ANYTHING I want to be, I don't love the furniture. But kudos to Mattel for keeping the brand going!

I loved my Barbies as a child and I think these chairs are pretty, but I'm not sure if they are fit for my living room. I have to agree with the previous comment and I would have to secretly keep this in my powder room - a true guilty pleasure!

Hmmm.....how do I say this delicately?

H-E-double-hockey-sticks NO!  The only thing I may put into my space is the framed picture of Ken.  The rest of it belongs only in this showroom, or maybe in Paris Hilton's house. ;)

A few pieces are really interesting.  I looove the Eye cushion.  The plastic poodle must have come from the plastic flamingo factory..haha.  This stuff is not for someone living with a guy, for sure.. :-)  I did buy my 7 yr. old granddaughter a hot pink Barbie Bike for her March birthday.. Now that's really tacky, but really cute as well. Maybe this decor should just be for 7 year old girls' bedrooms.. !

Though well done, not toooooooooo tacky..........EEEEEEEEEEEEKS!
