As we all know too well, times are tough. Both a kitchen and
basement reno are no small expense, and if you’re to choose one at all,
the choice better be made with ROI in mind. Few these days have the
luxury to renovate simply because they want it 'nicer.' And with
property value generally on the decline, it’s important that any
investment you make in your home, does not exceed its actual value.

The photo on the right shows a basement reno from Home Heist's "Mother Doesn't Always know best" episode, which aired last week.
Being a homeowner myself with a terrifying, centipede-infested unfinished basement and a patchwork kitchen, it’s hard for me to choose. Both of these aspects have a lot of bearing on the day to day flow in our household, and quite frankly, my happiness; I would be a lot happier with a finished basement, and a more functional kitchen.
Which is why I want to ask this as the Question of the Week: if you had to sell your home tomorrow, thinking as a buyer, what would hold more value for you: a finished basement or a new kitchen?
While the answer may seem black and white to you, those that I’ve canvassed seem perfectly split down the middle on which they see as money best spent…
