Question of the Week: Which Show Would You Want to Be On?

As you may have read previously, I like to do my own decorating. But being a confirmed HGTV addict (good thing, right?) there are so many shows that I would have a blast being on, if extended the invitation.

First off, I’d love to hang out with Sofie Allsopp of The Unsellables and argue about some of my quirky design choices, I’d love to try my luck on the Really Big Flip – I honestly think I would win! I’d love to have Samantha Pynn of Pure Design re-envision my first floor, and then I’d love to adapt it to my personal taste, and I would absolutely – like I suspect many of you would – love to invite Colin and Justin to heist my home. Whenever I watch that show I like to shout razor-sharp comebacks at those two cheeky boys from my couch, and I’d give a lot to be able to take them on, on camera…  Wouldn’t that be the funnest thing ever?

What show would you like to be on?

Comments:

Are you CRAZY!!!!??????  The only show worth being on would be Home Heist!  No competition.

Ssadly I have tried to be on the big flip and then then really big flip..but we never get picked...

February 2, 2009 5:47 PM

The only designers Id trust are Sarah Richardson and Collin and Justin.  Theyer shows always seem fun and the designs are always top rate on each.  Just out of interest who pays?

Hands down.....all my time would be spent with Colin and Justin!!!!

February 2, 2009 5:52 PM

Marriage Under Construction. It was great seeing what Vincenzo and Terra could do cheaply

February 2, 2009 5:53 PM

Why...Colin and Justin's Home Heist...of course...is my number one choice.  Number two would be Design Inc.   Here's hoping I get heisted!!!

As a mother of infant twins and a 6yr old who is constently testing my boundries I can say that I would love my boundries to be tested by Colin and Justin instead of my children for a change.  My husband is constently starting things and honestly they don't get finished until they are out of style again.  I live in reno hell.

I can't think of anything better then to wake up to those 2 bursting into my bedroom!

Heist me please!  I am begging you!

I am down on my knees~ in worship!~

Owning our own cafe (26 seats) in Saskatchewan I would have to say Restaurant Makeover or because the back living quarters are in dissaray I would have to say Colin and Justin hey do you guys do cafe's too?

February 2, 2009 7:35 PM

I would sign up in an instant for any show that was done in Saskatchewan.  We have some pretty neat things here, but not all the fancy resources that the big cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary have.  Now there is a challenge for you folks at HGTV.

February 2, 2009 8:23 PM

DEFINITELY Design Inc!!! Their designs are fresh, livable and so pretty! I love Sarah, Tommy and the whole team!

February 2, 2009 9:44 PM

I love Sarah's touch. Always elegant & with neutral colors. Her staging is simply outstanding & she can come to my house anytime. But Colin & Justin are welcome to heist my home too.

February 2, 2009 10:50 PM

I enjoy Design Inc but the only fella's I'd let in are Jutin and Collin whos fresh irreverent stye makes TV so much more fun than it used to be, eh?  I love their bold use of colour too.

I also like anything with Peter Falico but Collin and Justin first,

Home Heist would get my keys any day!

I would welcome anything that featured Mike Holmes to do the gritty stuff (Id love to see him in the flesh in his outfits!) and also the guys Colin and Justin from Home Heist My House.  They are my 'imaginary' best friends and theyd be welcome in my house!

Why dontthey do their shows from time to time in Hamilton.  I LOVE them,

Mrs M Dunn

February 3, 2009 8:54 AM

I'd book Samantha Pyme and Colin and Justin.  No one else.  Hope this helps.

February 3, 2009 9:25 AM

OMG...I love Colin and Justin...I'm a huge fan...So hands down Home Heist would be my #1 choice.  I love their eye for design...they are fabulous!!

February 3, 2009 9:57 AM

Sam Pynn too I guess and de Jason and Colin but being another xpat bRit guess Im biased!  Theyre way cooler than the old Designer Guys.

I also really like the lady who does Property Virgins - she's ballsy and fun.  And also the other Brit lady whoi fixes up to sell diff houses. Suweeet!  She's also tthe one Id like to marry!

February 3, 2009 9:58 AM

I wouldnt only let Colin and Justin in my house I'd never let them out!  These dudes are so much fun to watch on Home Heist but I'll tell you why I really love them - I watched their show called On Th Estate and they melted my hearts with their compassion for the people on that project. I really enjoyed Million Dollar Property Challenge they did too.  All rounders - someone shoudl give these guys a quiz show to host next

February 3, 2009 11:10 AM

For sure Mike Holmes - I didn't like him at first but the guy sure knows his stuff .  Wish he could come east and fix my reno nightmare with no reasonable end in sight that has lasted 2 1/2 years and counting.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!            April Gardner  Old Ridge, NB

February 3, 2009 12:00 PM

Colin & Justin for sure !! I have the strangest layout for our living room and it would be wonderful to see what someone who knows what they are doing could come up with. It is too bad that Toronto is the only place most of these shows work from. I guess us small town people don't count :(

February 3, 2009 1:55 PM

I am hoping to get advise from Peter Falico & his group hoping to get advise for my "birdhouse condo" that has a very odd layout. I literally do not have  living & dining spaces but an extended kitchen. I had originally downsize to a condo hoping to flip but now have to stay & live & enjoy my home. I hold off on any decorating & renovating because I am confused where to start. Knowing that Peter's expertise is small spaces & furnishings, I know he will be challenged with my 821 sqft "birdhouse". Please help!

February 3, 2009 6:25 PM

I'd love to have Colin and Justin over!  They are hilarious and I love everything they do. They were here in Victoria for a home show, but I was out of town that wkd :(

I'd also love Sarah and the Design Inc team to come over - she always has a bigger budget :)

You know, I'd just love to see any of them come to the West Coast for a show.  There is a lot more Canada outside of TO.

February 3, 2009 6:43 PM

Would love to have Mike Holmes and crew come and build my husband's new workshop.  We need to see more and new Holmes on Homes.

February 3, 2009 10:03 PM

My dream visit would be from either Mike Holmes or Colin & Justin. I have so much around my house that needs to be done I'm sure I could keep them all busy!! I have a "honey do" list and no honey to do it. I recently installed a new ceiling fan in my kitchen along with new light fixtures in my kitchen and 2 of my bathrooms but there are some things I'm just to nervous to tackle.

February 4, 2009 8:21 AM

Id have to ask Colin and Justin, onmly themm, treeally good designers thank ytou.

February 4, 2009 11:50 AM

Home Heist, the guys are a riot and hell, they can design a hot kitchen

Love, Glen x

February 4, 2009 12:06 PM

I have two houses, 1 in Edmonton, AB and 1 in the Vernon area

and I agree there is more to the World other than Toronto. Though

I have seen a show or two from New Westminster & Vcr already.

I would love to have Kelly Deck come and do my outside patio

in Vernon.

February 4, 2009 1:04 PM

I would have to Sarah Richardson would be pick number one. I love her house flips, love the colours and the serenity she brings to every space. As a mom of three busy boys serenity would be heavenly.

I would love Colin and Justin for their quirk and fun design sense, but I think I would loose my mind if I ended up with yellow lacquered kitchen cupboards, or white painted hardwood floors. But they can come and help with my small home if they would like : )

And I would love to have Sophie Allsopp come in, she could bring her sister too, and they could inject a little bit of that English common sense into my home.

Heck anyone who wants to come and help my home is welcome, someone who is good at storage dilemmas would be a god-send!

February 4, 2009 1:22 PM

Design Inc. would be my choice. I like the team approach which seems to result in a great balance of what the client wants and creative flavor of Sarah and her firm. Any group that shares such creativity with a punch of humor would give me exactly what I want.

February 4, 2009 1:36 PM

Without even a moments hesitation I would throw open my doors and welcome Justin and Colin, first for their skillful ability to transform even the dullest house into a designer masterpiece but secondly for their pure enthusiasm and warmth. I cant think of two people who seem kinder, warmer or funnier. I applaud them on their decision to come to Canada and wish them every success here for married life,

Very warm wishes, Fiona D

home heist is the worst decorating show on the tele.  They should go back to wherever they are from and give up  I watched their show once and will never watch it again.  I don't know what they are thinking of when they put together the rooms.  Bad bad show

February 4, 2009 2:39 PM

Home Heist without a doubt.

February 4, 2009 4:00 PM

I would choose Pure Design for sure! I love the show and her style. But lets face it, that will never happen. I live 6 hours north of Vancouver in a small town. At least I can catch the show on TV, I hope there will be another season!

February 4, 2009 4:15 PM

Id only invite Sarah and Colin and Justin.  Theyre teh only ones I rate as designers and they seem to 'get' thew spaces and the home owners. And Tommy from Sarahs show as he'd probably be a riot with Col and Jus.

NOT Trading Spaces EVER!

February 5, 2009 4:28 AM

I've been a fan of Sarah R. since she started as a lone decorator, making pillows and table runners etc.  , I love her simplicity, and elegance, and calming colors......

and  of courseTommy, my favorite decorating style.... Drop down East to see me anytime!!!!

February 5, 2009 12:59 PM

Nous adorons Justin et Colin.  Ils sont tres amusant et nous pensons qu'ils sont tres energetique et leurs dessins sont adorable.  Merci a HGTV

Savez vous que le nom de l'emmission est completement different ici a Montreal?

I had my house done by Justin & Colin and you wont beleive the fun we had they are amazing and the crew is so nice I love my new design, but i just found out that they are not coming back WHY?

February 5, 2009 3:09 PM

Well I am eco friendly and love watching the pure design.  We have just build a new home and I am in the process of designing rooms and love some of the ideas that pure design has to offer.  I would love to be choosen to help me along with this very big project.  I also Loved Sara's house and Design Inc.  Sara's style is very much like my own.  If my house was in a state of "horor" then I would love Home Heist, I do have a mother who could use Colin and Justin to save her from bad tast.

February 6, 2009 10:17 AM

In this tough economy I would want Terra and Vinchenzo from Marriage Under Construction. An entire house on a 30,000 budget? Sign me up!

February 6, 2009 1:49 PM

Oh my heavens I just about missed this question!  Definitely Sarah or Peter.   The reason is simply because 'they are talented Designers and always appear to be in tune with their client and thus they  deliver'.   As much as I adore Colin and Justin, I feel they fall short on the latter.

Sam is a 'rising star' and I do admire her style, however Sarah and Peter would be first on my HGTV list....then Sam.  (For Americans my choice would be Angelo Surmelis and Candice Olson.)   I also love Chris and Stephen but unfortunately they are no longer HGTV affilitated......sign.

February 8, 2009 3:18 PM

I love Sara Richardson.  She is one of my favorite designers.  I often tell my husband, if only we could get her to decorate our home.  We are currently building a new home for our family.  We have 4 children so we choose very carefully how our floor plan layout would be.  I would love some help in design.  I have no time to linger in stores to browse and dream of placement and design.  We have an idea of what we want, but it just getting it done.  So Sara if you want anyone's dream to come true, come and wave your magic wand on our house.  It's funny, when we were picking out colours and and details for kitchen and bathrooms, I always thought , now what would Sara do.  Sorry Sara no white kitchen in our new house.

If I needed a rebuild or had problems in my home we would choose Mike Homes.  Because of his shows we were very careful and checking out everything while building to make sure the new house was up to building code.  We asked for a walk thru before in insulation went in to make sure everything looked good.  Just a note we spent the extra money to have a energy star home.  Just taking everyones advice.

February 10, 2009 2:08 PM

My husband would choose Mike Holmes.  Design Inc. is my choice. But we would both agree on Marriage Under Constriction. Vinchenzo and Terra seem to really care about their clients and create realistic soluntions to stretch a small budget.

February 11, 2009 11:09 PM

Oh without a doubt I would go for Colin and Justin as they do upbeat contemporary styles that are always exciting.  And having them come to my home would make my husbands day as theyre teh only designers he watches as he thinks theyre hilariouse.

I'd wholeheartedly welcome Mike Holmes to my 'dream' home turned nightmare, despite a home inspection and the dishonest contributions of my realtor/broker/boss - who even collected top commissions, for leading me into this mess...Talk about buyer beware.....after the fundamental mess is cleared up, then I'd open my arms and door to Sarah Richardson....cappuccino's or latte's included (or better yet red wine) and forever grateful to anyone daring to meet this challenge in Bradford, Ont.

I would just love to be on my favorite show ~ "Home Heist"! My husband and I were starting renovations with funds put aside just for the occasion, and without warning my job ended due to the fact it had become redundant. This was 1 week after we purchased a second vehicle, and 5 days before we were going on vacation. (This was afew months ago now) Then in December my husband was laid off for the first time since he's been with the company he is with. Needless to say there went our money for renovations. Jobs are not very plentiful where we live but I'm hoping it will only be 2 to 3 years before we can get back on our feet and recover from this huge setback. So you can see why I would love to have our Home Heisted!!  With those two characters, it would also bring alot of laughs back into our home I'm sure!!

Thanks for reading my story.

the only show i would ever be on is holmes on homes.

February 21, 2009 6:24 PM

My choice of shows would be anything by Sarah Richardson or Peter Fallico for decorating and, of course, Mike Holmes for solid, construction information.  The shows from Great Britain, for the most part, have very limited appeal.  It would be interesting to see any of the shows films outside of Toronto (or Ontario).  There is a lot of real world in the rest of Canada!  Keep up the good work.

March 15, 2009 4:38 PM

Holmes on Homes! We purchased our new home (Florida) and it was leaking and leaking. They came and chalked and fixed a couple of things but now the caulk is worn out and it is leaking again. I would so love for Mr. Holmes to come and fix our house the right way!
