Cheap Artwork Find: Original Art for $20, $50 and $200

20x200 artwork

NYC-based gallery owner Jen Bekman believes that everyone needs art so she came up with a digital way to connect emerging artists with new collectors. "It's art for everyone. New original editions weekly, at ridiculously affordable prices," it says on the site she created 20x200.com. The cheapest prints are $20 and come in editions of 200 (hence the site's name). You can also buy one of 500 larger $50 prints, one of 20 $200 prints, one of 50 $500 prints or one of two $2,00 prints.

Each artist includes a short statement about the work so you know the meaning behind what you're buying. It also comes with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity. The best part about 20x200.com is that it's not only providing collectors with cheap art, it's providing new talent with exposure and income: profits are split evenly with the artists minus production costs.

So surf on over to 20x200.com this afternoon! New editions are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 2pm EST and 20x200.com does ship to Canada. It'll cost you an extra $20 for $20 prints, but that's still only $40 for art!

Comments:

I just browsed this website and they have some really neat items you can purchase.  No excuse for not having artwork on your walls, there is something for everyone.

This is not original art, it is a copy of original art, there is a difference and the statement made here is misleading

True it is a copy, but a limited edition, which is more valuable then just a copy and more affordable then the original.  It does clearly state it is a print and if you go to the 20x200 website it does clearly states what the process is and that the artist is involved with the print making of the original art.

Hi there, Jen Bekman here - I'm the founder of 20x200.

First things first: thank you for the wonderful write up! Everyone at 20x200 HQ was really excited your post - it was so well written, and all the details were just right. It was especially nice that you credited and linked to all the artists.

Secondly, I wanted to address any confusion that there might be about the provenance and/or originality of the prints we produce.

Our photography editions are of are images that are exclusive to 20x200. There are some very rare exceptions, as in the case of Beth Dow. She produces gorgeous platinum prints of her work in very small editions, with the prices starting at $1800.

I know firsthand how special they are; I represent Beth. I've exhibited her work at my gallery on several occasions, and she has a second solo show coming up with us in April.

As for the fine art prints, yes they are indeed reproductions of original works, and once again, the images/editions are are exclusive to 20x200. All of this information is stated clearly on the site and is often repeated in the newsletters that I write to introduce the editions.

Some other things to keep in mind:

- ALL of our editions are closely supervised and approved by the artist.

- We often have the original works that the prints are based on available as well. They're usually quite expensive, with prices in the thousands, which makes being able to offer affordable prints of them that much more gratifying.

- Our prints are printed on fine papers, using archival inks and they are painstakingly produced. We work exclusively with master printers as we have very high standards for our editions. I expect the 20x200 prints to be just as fine and carefully done as the prints I show in my gallery in New York.

Again, thanks for the kind words and I hope that any confusion about the works we're offering has been cleared up.
