Amazing Holiday Window Displays at The Bay and Holt Renfrew in Toronto

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that one of my most favourite things about the holiday season is window gazing. The holiday window is a longstanding retail tradition that often takes the whole year to plan. Many of the larger retailers, especially in the US, have been know to hold competitions among top creatives for the best holiday window proposal.

Here in Toronto, the two stores I wait for every year are Hudson’s Bay flagship store on Queen Street, and Holt Renfrew’s flagship on Bloor Street West.

And they did not disappoint!

The Bay unveiled an enchanted menagerie of colour-blocked fairies, presiding over magical scenes of twilight and other worldly Christmas flora and fauna…

Holt Renfrew goes with a theme of all that glitters in gold; languid glamour queens, falling stars, time-capsule treasures…

Which do you like best? What are some of your favourite holiday window displays?

In comparing the two, I wuld have to say The Bay, however agree with others 'where is the Christmas theme?'.   I feel it is time for retailers to again acknowledge the  celebration of CHRISTMAS.  No doubt I am opening up a 'can of worms', but let's not be naive,  as 'tis the season' not only  to rake in their largest profit but it is an opportunity for them  to express 'tolerance'.

I wonder what happen to the true meaning of Christmas?

These are gorgeous and breathtaking.  The artistic creativity used is astounding.    So much nicer than the stereotype "Santa and his toys for all RICH (not GOOD) girls and boys" display windows.

These windows are stunning- especially The Bay's. Although I would never shop at either store because they sell fur, even I'll admit they have beautiful windows. And as for "what happened to Christmas?'- I think both displays portray that certain touch of magic we all hope for this time of year... again, especially The Bay with it's beautiful fairies!

I love them both. Not quite as good as NYC but very glam and beautiful. I guess the average HGTV bloggers are not really into haute design.
