I have a love for all things Riedel. It all started a few years ago at the famed William Ashley Warehouse sale in Toronto where I picked up a two-pack of the ‘O’ Wine Tumblers (pictured below). From there my obsession with the delicately crafted glasses grew, as did my collection, and after a few more trips to various sales and online stores I have amassed sixteen glasses which I proudly keep on display in my dining room.

While I love the look of a table set with ‘O’ glasses, and how comfortable they feel in your hand, there are wine purists out there who argue that holding the glass warms up the wine, thus changing the taste. I certainly don’t disagree, but to those wine aficionados in search of the perfect glass, don’t worry, Riedel makes something for you too.
Equally as impressive on display is the Sommelier line. The 37 oz Burgundy tasting glass (pictured above on the right) stands at just over 10 inches and certainly makes for an interesting conversation piece in any crystal collection. But at $99.95 a glass, this one only makes appearances at formal occasions.

(Left to right: Riedel Ultra - $249.99, Riedel Swan - $399.95, Riedel Amadeo - $399.99 all are available at Epicure)
Although I love my collection as it is, I must admit that there is nothing that makes my heart swoon like the soft lines of the wine decanters. Ranging in price from $249-$399, one of these beauties is on my wish list and would make for an excellent addition to anyone’s crystal collection.
So, if you're stumped this holiday season on what to get that special someone, gifting some Riedel will almost guarantee you won't get that awful smile of "No, really, you shouldn't have."
