Your New Holiday Palette

Painting your home for the holidays may seem like a big commitment for just a month of festive cheer, but the people at Para Paints have not only come up with a holiday palette, they've provided a variety of ways to incorporate the season's trendy shades.

Above: Inspired by frosted windowpanes and sugarplums by firelight, the five colours in the palette are pre-existing Para offerings. From left to right: Ice pick (P5244-34D), Steamy Summer Air (P5064-14), Modern (P5194-85), Out For A Stroll (P5204-14) and Bay Street Blue (P5005-63).

Bay Street Blue will also be a key player in Para's 2009 trend report along with very close matches for the rest, so painting your wall plum may not be such an impulsive decision afterall.

Here are Para's suggestions on how to transform your home for the holidays:

  1. Paint your kitchen accent wall in Modern Purple (P5194-85)
  2. Add pomp and circumstance to a favourite small space or home accessory such as an urn or hearth in Ice Pick Grey (P5244-34D)
  3. Give your dining room the royal treatment with Bay Street Blue (P5005-63). Colour match your linens for an impressive designer look

If I had a grand dining room, I'd buy a bunch of big canvases, paint them in Bay Street Blue and/or Modern and hang them around the room, one behind each dining chair for a modern, artistic look. I'm already on the look-out for accessories in these colours. I think Para's holiday palette is fresh, festive and reflective of the season without being cliché at all (no red, green, silver or gold in sight!).

Comments:

saw a thing that Colin and Justin talked about in their newspapers about seasonal adjustment and that seems like a good idea to make it relevant to your existing scheme so that seems to mean toning it it to what you already have which is great sense.  So no crazy christmas decor in your muted scheme,  Try nickels and silvers maybe or soft antique golds in your cream or neutral design. Got some great ideas about this too in their Home Heist book which is definatelye worth reading too as at long lastr its a book we can all relate too rather than over done insane millions of dollars homes in otehr books.

Anyone got any idea where I can get a plain black and white wallpaper with a five inch band?  Thanks all,

Jess
