Home To Flip: An Elegant Master Suite from a Kitchen?

This season, HGTV host Peter Fallico takes his "Home To" series to the real estate market in Home To Flip. I had the chance to chat with Peter about his new series. As a home decor expert, a real estate show seems like new territory but Peter tells me that he's a bit of an old pro. "I will admit that this is the first time that I've flipped a house with such a short deadline but I have flipped homes before. Usually I've flipped them over a year or two and actually lived in the house while I did the work," he says.

In episode 3, Peter and his team tackle the master bedroom and bathroom, which they actually have to create from two separate rooms: a very small bedroom and a second-floor kitchen of all things! The result is a simple and elegant master bedroom done in white and a perfect, luxurious ensuite with heated floors hidden by a sliding, frosted door.

Peter I have been a big fan of yours for a very long time.  As a Homeowner I am recording all your episodes of this series, as I have sixteen spaces to give a face-lift to.  (It's been 21 years and it is loooooong overdue !)  No walls shall be coming down in 'this' home, however new bathrooms (x1 full /  x l/2  / +2 pwdr) will be getting an entire makeover;  installation of recessedt/miscellaneous lighting and h/flooring etc., are all on the agenda.  (Come to think of it, the tasks to be conquered might make good , for a HGTV Reality Comedy Series staring a Senior Citizen....smiles.)

That which stated above brings me to this question.  Would it be possible to include more photos of your completed project(s)?  ie:  Was the ensuite bathroom of the Master Bedroom a 'full' bath with separate shower and tub?  Also, do the prices you quote include labour?

Wishing you continued success!    (Hopefully you will read this comment.)

Sincerely -Brenda-

More photos of the spaces would be fantastic. I really like this episode and think the bathroom turned out great! But, more photos would help give me ideas when it's time to design our bathroom. Thanks!

Never miss the show. Enjoying the flip. The rooms are lovely Peter. It must be very difficult not to go over budget. Little tough on nerves as well when opening up spaces. Never know what is behind that wall. Costs can be higher sometimes. Other spaces have to be finished on budget without the most expensive tubs, sinks or cupboards in kitchens. Your designer did say high end taps and fixtures for tub, sink. Cheap is not always the way . You do have to know where to spend and where to save. I am learning from the best. Great show. Thanks for taking the plunge Peter. We are learning a lot. Keep up the great work...

In your episode with the bedroom and ensuite reno. Where did you purchase the ceiling flushed lighting that is in your bedrom, and how much did it cost?

Peter... love your show.  Your sense of style and use of space is great and the details you add really complete even the smallest of spaces by creating wonderful vignettes that are inviting, real and liveable. I was wondering what paint colour you used in the family room/hallway area?  It appears to be a silvery blue colour but I'd love the paint colour and company if possible - it looked magnificent!

I would like to know the name of the paint colours throughout the house, especially the basment and master bedroom.  I love all his designs. It is refreshing to see that not everything is done in chocolate brown!

Hi Peter,

I've always loved your "Home to ..." series starting with Home to Go - innovative and inexpensive decorating tips for rental space and have used several of your ideas in my own decorating.  I have a question/observation about your recent "Home to Flip" series - I wish you'd been clear that the furnishings, window coverings, art work, accessories, most lighting etc were not included in the budgets of each room.  The beautiful artwork you had in the living room could likely be worth the $7000 alloted to the room reno itself!  People really do need to be realistic about their budgets.  Thanks for a great series.

Is there a shopping list available somewhere? I would love to know where Peter purchased the bath vanity.

Loved the reno on "Home to Flip"!  What type of hardwood did you use? (as it was a beautiful rich colour)

Interested in knowing about the skylight in the ensuite bathroom. it appeared to be installed using ducting and might solve a dark corner in my home. Any info would be helpful!

Love the wall sconces in the master ensuite. Can you tell me where I can find them? Anyone?

I wanted photos of the bath/shower. Would you be able to post them?

Really enjoy the new program! It is nice to see you understanding budget concerns a little better. In the past you seemed a little condescending when you would  chuckle at the amounts others had to spend on renos. Nothing like experience to educate us. Keep up the good work.

I would love to see more photos of your projects.  It's hard tell what the whole renovation looks like.  I would also like to see your show extended to an hour  so I can have a better idea of how you do what you. I love your show . It's my favourite.
