Question of the Week: Printed Tissue Boxes or Tissue Dispensers?

Tissue boxes have come a long way from days of past when they were bland and simply monotone.

Today, facial tissue manufacturers have addressed the decorating needs of the average consumer by producing packaging with a variety of designs and treatments in order to accomodate a multitude of different style aesthetics. I have seen tissue boxes with everything from flowers, butterflies, drawings, paintings, coloured geometric patterns, bamboo, country scenes, and pebbles, to custom designed kleenex boxes with family photos.

On the other hand, if there isn't a design that suits your decor then there is also the option of a tissue dispenser, which basically goes over top of a tissue box in order to completely conceal the box. Usually part of a bathroom accessory set, these dispensers come in a variety of sizes and are made of a variety of materials such as: plastic, chrome, wicker, teak, bamboo and even sculptured art forms. A dispenser eliminates any indecision when purchasing a box of tissues and it helps to maintain your overall design style more successfully than a mass produced print on a tissue box.

In your home, do you display tissues in their original packaging or do you cover up the box with a dispenser? Leave a comment and let us know.

Comments:

I'm a fan of the plain 'ol tissue boxes. There are so many stylish ones out there today, you can really find something that works with your look without having to bother buying something. Having said that, I have no issue with decorative boxes, just as long as they aren't too ornate. They're just tissues after all, lol.

I like any tissue boxes with flowers on them because it is an easy way to brighten up a room without actually having to take care of flowers.

A tissue box is only a tissue box.  If it's hidden away in a matchy poo decorative box to fit in with your decor, it will obviously be hidden away and forgotten when you feel a sneeze coming on.  Do we really have to be so superficial and worry about decorating a kleenex boxes?

My problem was what to do with the empty tissue boxes instead of throwing them out into the recycling bin. So I decided to find ways to use them as much as I can. I cut the tops off them, and use them to store things like the kids pencils/crayons/markers and such. I also use them for Xmas presents and other gifts. Place your items in them, cover with loose tissue, and tie a nice ribbon around them to match. They are also great for Valentines day at school, for the kids to put valentines in for their friends. Each one has a child's name on , written on a lable on the front.  They can also be used to store arts/crafts, cut off the top, and they stack well one on top of the other. Same can be done in the workshop to store tools, hardware like nails and other things. Finally, use them to put home made cookies in to give to the homeless for Xmas! Just cut off the tops, wrap the cookies in colored cellephane, bring together at the top with a ribbon or twish tie.

I'm having a hard time finding a cover for the normal rectangular tissue boxes. Does anyone have some suggestions? Thanks

I would like to see the tissue companies come up with their own re-usable tissue covers.  Then, I would like to see them sell their tissues in bulk packs, like napkins/serviettes or paper towels (no boxes & less waste).  In this day and age of recycling and reducing, the number of tissue boxes that get discarded is staggering.

If the tissue boxes were kept neutral or in current decorating style, I think they would be a big hit!  And, if the tissue company donated a portion of the sale of each tissue box to a charity, that company would be a big hit, also!

I think the lady who suggested that companies create their own re-usable tissue covers and sell the tissues in bulk is a great idea.  Reduce, reuse, and recycle is the name of the game these days, so maybe we could promote this idea to tissue companies so they can easily pitch in and help make our lives greener.

Don't like flowered toilet seats, towels, etc. therefore don't like flowered tissue boxes, prefer a chrome or neutral cover, it's very hard to find an oblong one and buying Kleenex Boutique or the like gets expensive, the box cover makers should include a bottom so that you could buy tissue in bulk as someone mentioned.

I enjoy the variety of packages available in facial tissue.  Since I recycle the boxes (including the opening strip), I don't feel that I am harming our environment.  I also take the time to be aware of sales or coupons or special seasonal boxes for tissue and thus, enjoy the package(s) at reasonable cost.

better to keep the box out to re ind you that once it is empty you can recycle it by placing all plastic grocery bags in it.space saver!

There are so many decorative boxes now that come directly from the tissue manufacturers that I have no problem finding one to match my decor

Love the Bamboo!!!!!!! Bamboo is an amazing material to use around the house and I'm sure you all know why!

Even though it is just a tissue box I would rather have a decorative covering that goes along with the rest of the bathroom/powder room decor. Even though there are many box designs I wouldn't like the look and feel of having cardboard kickin' around. the tissue box with the face on it is a little creepy-looking.

I love decorated tissue boxes, just the right accent,  especially when when it goes with the decor.
