Jim Caruk is Back

The Harley-Davidson-riding charmer and master contractor, Jim Caruk, shows us even more of his world in a new season of Real Renos.  This season, the homes are bigger, the clients are more demanding and the looming problems – everything from Jim’s trusty tradespeople not showing up, to untouchable landscaping, to major delays – are sure to rattle even Jim’s trademark cool.

Wired for sound everywhere he goes, Jim gives us a front row seat as he goes from job site to job site, putting out fires from demolition to construction.

Who is this dream contractor?  From time to time we get to follow him home to find Jim Caruk a regular family man, who happens to move his family from home to home – a lot.

Real Renos season six premiers Thursday, Oct., 2, 2008 at 10:30pm, ET/PT.

I've watched Jim rise the ranks in the industry. I knew him when he lived in Swansea and banked where I worked. He had big visions back then and he's stuck to his goal. Nice work Jim...An overnight success that took 25 years to create! To your success, Janet

Wonderful!  I have truly missed this show!  But.....will Neil be back?  Someone has to make acid comments and prod Jim into work every now and then!

I caught this show once and loved it!  One of the better reno shows.  Nothing else compares on HGTV-US.  Why can't it be shown in the States?  I'm just across the lake in Rochester.  Please?!!!

I'm so glad you are back.  Like the other letters that I have just read, I can't wait to see the first episode.

Truly find Jim (and hopefully Neil) very entertaining.

All the best for a new season

Glad to have Jim back.  Too bad Neil isn't there anymore, miss his take on things.  But I guess he is on to bigger things now, with his own show.

Unlike Holmes on Holmes, I never get anything out of this tedious, slow-paced program. Last time I watched, something like five minutes was wasted showing Jim trying to start an excavator; on another episode, he spent a similar amount of time griping under his daughter's leaking bathroom sink. I have frankly never understood the appeal or the purpose of this show!

Boorringgg show!

November 23, 2008 11:26 AM

I LOVE Real Reno's.  I would love it more if Jim Caruk was paired again with Neil Davies.  They're like Elvis and Costello; Lucy and Ricky.  These two are a great team.  Bring them back together!!

At least it'll be fun to watch this guy again, unlike watching Mike Holmes.

"Oh look there's something that's against code.  Look over there, that's not up to code either.  Gees Mike, is this up to code? ...."

what happened to Neil?

December 7, 2008 10:54 AM

Pity no Neil this time around, he was a great foil for the "master contractor/renovator". Still, I wouldn't miss it for anything. I used to watch RR and HoH religiously, but HoH has lost it's lustre with the relentless emphasis on MH "saving the day" for the renovationally challenged homeowners. Jim Caruk seems to be able to combine a bit of humour with the day to day reality of the business. Or are they really just one and the same to him?

December 11, 2008 10:54 PM

So glad Jim is back.  This show shows what the contractor business is truly like.  Unlike HoH and his unlimited budgets and "life saving" rescues, Jim shows what its like to deal with customers and sub trades.   He's a true contractor and not a glorified "jack of all trades".   I have the utmost respect for what he does and goes through.  I am a journeyman tilesetter with 28 yrs exp and love watching Jim and his day to day struggles.   Hats off to him.

I love this show! Jim's sense of humor and ability to remain calm makes a great show. I loved the show where we met his dad. I never miss the show. Great job Jim.

The show is not the same without Neil.  Although the homes are beautiful, Neil was the reason I watched the show.

January 9, 2009 2:03 AM

Love his sense of humour, miss Neil but it's still a great show.  Keep it  on.

January 29, 2009 7:57 PM

I am glad you are back. Really big renos. I do like Neil but don't care for his show. You need to come and do some reno's in Alberta. I watch it faithfully.
