Addressing the Windows

I’m in a bit of a window dressing rut. I have large sliding glass doors in my living space that lead out to the deck and right now they are dressed with two very plain, white panels and hung up by your run-of-the-mill chrome rod and brackets set. Granted, they serve their purpose—disguising my afternoon snore fests from the neighbours and hiding the ugly alley out back from my view. However, they’re not exactly inspiring, you know? Lately, I’ve been having daydreams about swathing the whole thing in cheeky hot pink or going graphic with some mod-inspired prints. Below are some of my window dressing finds, bold on the left, softer and more feminine on the right. I’m torn. Your thoughts?

Clockwise from top left: Flocked Leaf Curtain, $38.00 and Asian Poppy Curtain, $30.00 both Urban Outfitters; Melon Glass Finials, $41.51, Anthropologie;  Chirp Finial Set, $16.00, Umbra.

I'm kind of for the floral!

I'd avoid the black and white impression that would add gloom mood with time. The orange floral design is perfect; inspiring and makes a strong statement. Go, go, go for it!

I'm for the floral as well... I think I was turned off by the bird... too much.

I don't like either of the curtain choices, but the finials are both nice, especially the bird... I love nature inspired accessories. But I prefer single colours and no patterns for curtains, especially if there's already a lot of pattern in the room. You can also just buy fabric and have curtains made.. it's sometimes even cheaper that way.

I think the black and white print is growing on me.  Paired with a bold paint colour it could make quite the impact!

Loves the floral.

There should be a small touch of simple floral in every room!

Nadine,

I like the Black and white curtains, it lends itself to a more neutral palette blends well with all holiday decor and easily interchangeable with color trends and accents. notice the post was from 2008.  What did you decide on?
