Splurge Vs Steal: Summer Edition Anyone For Croquet?

Croquet – the overlooked cousin of mini-golf – is an ideal summer activity. It requires very little set-up, travels well, and all ages can play.

Splurge: Six-Player Croquet Set by Lee Valley Tools, $159
This set is made from quality, durable materials such as hardwood for the mallets and steel for the wickets. Where other sets can be too short for adults, this set touts being long enough for adults. It comes with six mallets, two goal posts, nine wickets, six balls and a canvas bag for storage.

Steal: Recreational Croquet Set at Canadian Tire, $25
This is only a four-player set but its quality is comparable to the Lee Valley set. It also comes with sturdy wooden mallets, weighty balls and a storage case. Canadian Tire does have a six-player set but its quality is inferior. If six players are what you want, buy two sets! With its inexpensive price, it's still a considerable save. How will you tell the balls part? Wrap a piece of white tape around the second set of balls.

Wow, this takes me back to my childhood.  I am youngest of 7 and this was a family favorite.  Thanks for the reminder, I must purchase to play with my five grandchildren

Great find - Thanks! I’m always looking for something to keep the little ones busy during the summer. The storage case is perfect for the cottage!
