Are You a City Mouse or a Country Mouse?

Are you a city mouse or a country mouse?

Question of the Week: Do you love your space with modern furnishing or lots of country chic? Often the answer depends on where you live. Are you a city condo dweller or a suburbanite? What style is your home? Is it colonial, Victorian, 50s mod-style bungalow, cottage or modern contemporary? Perhaps the most important factor when deciding on your interior style is what you like and what fits best for your lifestyle.

So when it comes to design style are you a city mouse or a country mouse? Leave a comment and let us know.

I like the ultra modern style of the city and the space, nature and privacy of the "country" So I guess I'm a city mouse in a suburban home... an urban suburban :)

I'm definitely more into city style. Being a condo dweller with not much room to work with, modern furnishings are my go-to but I do have a few great antique pieces that add a touch of vintage flare.

I like a mix of both "country" and "city" elements.  I love both the dining rooms pictured above and to me it looks like there are peices that could fit into either category mixed within the rooms.

I also like a mix of modern and rustic elements. I like the clean lines of modern furniture, like a big, white, square sectional, but i also enjoy the origiality and whimsy of more rustic pieces, like an old patinaed armoire, a farmer's table, etc.

Basically, I like a little of everything!

I live in a small resort town but live in a modern city house. This house is more rustic than I like but it suits the style of the area. Sort of West Coast Whistler big wood beams but sleek smooth lines.

My daughter just moved into a modern apartment in the city. She loves the clean lines of modern. She also needed some warmth to her patio as everything is cement. She just bought some teak furniture but she wants to put some large cushions on the chairs. What colour should she use to keep it warm and modern?

I am definitely a city mouse! I love modern pieces but have a few antique pieces - thrown here and there. An old dresser that has been painted many times. Stripped to its bare wood. Then repainted again. Now it sits in my "piano room" near the foyer in the 100 year old townhouse that I live in.

Some day I'd like to live in the country - perhaps when I retire at the age of 94! :o)
