It's Canadian, Eh!

With Canada Day upon us, it only seemed fitting to write about the great outdoors.  Whether your idea of outdoor heaven is kicking back at the cottage, or just venturing out to the backyard, here are a few pieces of Canadiana décor to add some national flare to your outdoor space:

Lounge the Day Away
Many refer to this as the Muskoka chair (or the Adirondack chair if you live south of the border). But with Canada Day around the corner, we’re going to claim this one as our own!  The slanted seat and wide armrests make this piece of outdoor furniture perfect for lounging around the deck or dock.

Snuggle in History
First introduced by the Hudson’s Bay company into the fur trade in 1780, the Hudson's Bay Point Blanket continues its iconic Canadian status and remains a popular item sold by Hudson’s Bay company. It’s perfect for those cooler summer nights sitting down by the dock or curled up around the campfire. $275-475 depending on size.

Heritage Rock
Originally used at a point of reference or landmark by the Inuit, the Inuksuk increasing serves as a Canadian national symbol. Vancouverites are familiar with this figure as it’s the logo for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games! In celebration of Canada Day, why not make your own Inuksuk and leave your mark!

Fly It High!
The finishing touch on any outdoor space with a Canadian theme is, of course, the National Flag of Canada (it’s correct designation). Did you know there are official rules for flag flying?
