Recently I painted my kitchen red; "California Poppy" (Behr.com, S-G-106), to be exact. It's bold, bright and I love it. Vibrant colours, whether their used on an accent wall or in the accessories, can add a much needed dramatic touch to a room.
Now I realize that dramatic reds aren't for everyone, so I recently polled the hgtv.ca editorial team of their top colour picks. Here's the round-up:
Pavilion Blue, Farrow & Ball

"It would make the perfect soothing colour for a bathroom or (if only!) a dressing room. It's pale and almost a neutral but the hint of blue gives it a spa-like quality." -- Vanessa
Sandstone Cliff, Behr

"The warm undertones make this a 'happy' gray, perfect for those looking for a neutral paint colour but don’t want the colour of the room to feel to cool. It's an excellent choice for rooms where you want to let your accessories pop!" -- Meagan
Borrowed Light, Farrow & Ball

"Love this grayish-blue colour. Aside from being a perfect mix between two hot trendy colours (warm grey and robin's egg blue), it's a perfect colour match for pretty much any room in your house." -- Melissa
Bahaman Sea Blue, Benjamin Moore
"Blame my Pisces DNA, but this blue-green shade takes the cake. I would never paint an entire room in this colour, but I think one wall or an accent in turquoise is very modern and invigorating. It’s a happy medium between everyone’s safety colour, blue, and all that hunter green leftover from the 90s (horrors of all horrors!)." -- Nadine
