A tranquility fountain lends a soothing and relaxing quality to any room of your home.
Materials:
1 large, watertight, flat-bottomed bowl or planter, deep enough to accommodate submersible pump
1 small submersible statuary or fountain pump, available at nurseries, craft and hardware stores
1 4" plastic tube, same width as pump opening
1 large artificial hollow rock or ceramic pot with drainage hole (small enough to sit upside-down inside bowl), available at craft stores or garden supply stores
A variety of large rocks, flat stones and pea gravel
1 aquarium plant (real or artificial), available at pet stores
Tools Required:
Scissors
Clear packing tape
Small towel
Directions:
1. Wash bowl and all stones and dry thoroughly with towel.
2. Set bowl on flat surface. Place pump on bottom of bowl and tape cord flat to inside of bowl.
3. Attach tubing to top of pump outlet and cut tubing to appropriate height. If you are using a hollowed-out rock, fit the rock so it rests flat on bottom of bowl. If you are using a ceramic pot, place pot upside-down on top of pump and trim tubing to desired waterfall height (about 1" above hole in pot).
4. Add water to bowl and turn on pump to ensure tubing is correctly attached. Adjust pump speed to achieve desired water flow. Unplug pump.
5. Add pea gravel around edges of rock or pot, concealing electrical cord. Top up bowl with water so that pea gravel is completely submerged.
