Christian Pavey, Handyman
As a child growing up in Montreal, Christian would always be building intricate creations with his building blocks, dismantling and reassembling small appliances, or helping his father in his workshop. Christian was introduced to sailing by his parents and grandparents well before he took his first steps. The elegance of pure form following function, clever use of space, fine finishes and nominal consumption while living aboard a sailboat, are still a great inspiration for Christian today.
In his early teens, he and his family moved to London, England where he finished high School and studied Architecture at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. Over the course of those years, Christian was also able to travel extensively. Through drawing and photography, he studied the styles and construction methods of cultures on every continent but Antarctica.
Christian returned to Canada in his early twenties to pursue a career in Design and Architecture. Living in Toronto, he worked for some of Canada's top architects and retail designers on projects ranging from Georgian mansions and private homes to Canada's biggest retail chains.
After a few years of design, Christian found he missed the fulfillment he got from building and joined his friend's renovation company, building high efficiency and high quality renovations and additions for luxury homes. In mid 2007, Christian opened Christian Pavey Construction operating in the Toronto area with a greater focus on green methods, materials and technologies applied to urban homes with the same high quality standard.
