New Shows, New Episodes: The New Winter Schedule Starts January 2, 2012

Happy New Year! It's that time again -- new year, new schedule! Check out what's new on HGTV Canada beginning Monday, January 2.

New Series
Home by Novogratz
Premieres Monday, January 2 at 8pm ET
Cortney and Robert Novogratz — the husband and wife design team who juggle seven children and dozens of clients — believe good taste and deep pockets have nothing to do with each other. In each episode, Robert and Cortney take on a new design project and create totally unique, wildly original spaces that showcase their funky, downtown-chic aesthetic, their unpretentious design sensibility, and their self-taught, drop-dead gorgeous style. They'll learn on the job, pull together an eclectic mix of shopping finds and, in the end, present their client with a spectacular and totally customized room that surpasses every expectation.

Kitchen Cousins
Premieres Monday, January 2 at 10pm ET
Everyone wants to have their dream kitchen, and it's the Kitchen Cousins' job to make it a reality! Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri run a New Jersey-based family construction company that focuses on turning mediocre kitchens into masterpieces.

Canada’s Handyman Challenge

Premieres Tuesday, January 10 at 10pm ET
Canada’s Handyman Challenge is HGTV’s first nationwide search for the best everyday handyman. Judged by Mike Holmes, Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler and hosted by interior designer Jillian Harris, the first Canadian Bachelorette and interior designer for Extreme Home Makeover, the competition puts contestants through a series of rigorous, skill-testing challenges to see who will win the coveted title of Canada’s Best Handyman.

Cowboy Builders

Premieres Wednesday, January 4 at 10am ET
Up and down the country, cowboy builders are causing devastation and dismay. These reckless workmen are always bad news, leaving behind them piles of rubble, financial angst and heartache – and it’s up to our team to fix up ruined homes and drive the bad builder out of town. Standing up for aggrieved consumers everywhere are Dominic Littlewood and Melinda Messenger.

Leave It To Bryan

Premieres Thursday, January 5 at 10pm ET
Bryan Baeumler knows that the reno you need is not always the reno you want.  That marble bathroom might look fantastic, but when you’ve also got a kitchen that desperately needs updating, you’ve got to invest your money where it counts.  In this brand new HGTV series, homeowners hand over the decision – and the housekeys – to Bryan, who surprises them with the reno that looks great and makes sense.

Million Dollar Contractor
Premieres Thursday, January 5 at 8pm ET
Hosted by "Contractor to the Stars" Stephen Fanuka, Million Dollar Contractor gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at some of the most amazing spaces and construction of Manhattan's high-end luxury homes. The series focuses on the details, the materials and the insane amount of money clients spend to allow Stephen to create million-dollar projects. Despite the hefty price tag, many of the same on-site issues and problems also occur in the homes of everyday people. Throughout the series, Stephen shares tips and tricks of the trade that first-time DIYers and home improvement aficionados will appreciate.

Selling LA
Premieres Friday, January 6 at 9pm ET
From Beverly Hills to the Sunset Strip, Los Angeles is a place where the rich and famous live large, and everyone has a dream. For the region's real estate brokers, landing a client and closing a deal can be as competitive as any casting call. Follow three real estate firms as they build up their rosters of millionaire clients, tour spectacular properties and network their way through the competitive world of high-end real estate. This is Selling LA!

Massive Moves

Premieres Sunday, January 7 at 4pm ET
Moving house is one of the most stressful experiences we ever encounter - but can you imagine moving an entire house - fixtures, furniture, walls and roof intact, through a city, over a mountain or across a frozen lake! That’s the challenge faced by teams of house movers in each half hour episode of MASSIVE MOVES. In every show a team of movers race against the clock to move a monstrous house for a nervous set of homeowners. Much is at stake for these families …some want to swap their view of city streets for country hills, while others love their house but want to escape noisy neighbors – but all want to retain their beloved home. The movers must overcome huge hurdles - over hanging trees, low slung power lines, weak bridges and high speed traffic. There is high drama, jeopardy and emotion for everyone involved as everyone races to deliver their homes on time.

What. I don't see Sarah Richardson listed for a new season. Come on folks.  She is the best trend setting designer there is.  Please tell me she will be returning.

January 1, 2012 9:24 PM

I agree, bring back Location, Location, Location. I miss Kirstie and Phil.

January 1, 2012 11:53 PM

I'm another huge fan of Kirstie and Phil!  Please bring them back...I beg you!  They not only do Location, Location, Location, but Relocation, Relocation and a Vacation series.  They don't have screaming clients either!  Glad to see Selling New York will be back.  I also would love to see more of Sarah Richardson.  Is she coming back in the Spring?  Another Canadian designer I'll be watching is Candice Olson but that's a different network...

January 2, 2012 10:38 AM

Please bring back some of the british shows such as Location, Location, Location. Thanks,

January 2, 2012 8:40 PM

Love Home by Novogratz.........but at 5pm on the westcoast???????  That doesn't work.  Please move to primetime........it's a winner.

(I miss Kirstie & Phil too.)

January 2, 2012 9:03 PM

Homes by Novogratz ... waste of time ... put Courtney on What Not To Wear.

January 2, 2012 9:44 PM

I miss Kirstie and Phil too but I read awhile back that Kirstie stopped doing tv shows to raise her kids.  I miss Colin & Justin.  Glad Sandra is back with more Property Virgins! and LOVE the House Hunter shows.  I'm an HGTV addict.

January 2, 2012 9:50 PM

Where is Sarah Richardson?  Seriously? And where is Candace Olsen?  These ladies are the best designers you showcase.  I think you are going to lose a lot of viewers without their shows.

January 3, 2012 10:46 AM

Hi everyone, we just ran season 4 of Sarah's House, which you can watch in full in our Video Centre and on the Sarah's House site at hgtv.ca/sarahshouse.

Kirstie and Phil don't have new episodes at the moment for us to air, but you can watch past seasons in the Video Centre, we also have Kirstie's Homemade Home and Phil Down Under.

January 3, 2012 12:17 PM

What about the show "Consumed"??  Will it be returning??

January 4, 2012 12:32 PM

What about Flipping out?! Jeff Lewis is hilarious!!! Pleaseee bring it back!!

January 4, 2012 12:36 PM

Hmmm.  Still no decent gardening shows.  Not sure why they even put the G in HGTV.

January 4, 2012 3:17 PM

I was hoping the show consumed would be returning ... I really like watching this show and I like the ideas that come about.

January 4, 2012 3:56 PM

Watched the two Kitchen Cousins episodes and I'm interested enough to watch again next week.  What about Kelly Deck's 'Inside/Outside' design show?  Is she still doing them?  Would love to see more from her.  As to Location, Location, Location, just watched them on another network!!!  Was I ever thrilled to see them again at 8pm!!!

January 4, 2012 11:39 PM

I will not be able to watch more of those boring uninspiring designs that I witnessed on Nine by Design so I won't be watching the Novogratzes.

Good point, where are the garden shows? Hopefully we will see some new ones in the spring - Dirty Business, I hope!

January 5, 2012 1:02 PM

Alicia Cox

You are incorrect, Kirstie and Phil do have new ep's in fact they are on the 16th season in the uk!

January 6, 2012 4:18 PM

I heard about a slew of shows that are in Britain hosted by Phil Spencer & Kirstie Allsop thst we never saw air!!!......Christmas Show,  Vacation,Vacation,Vacation and each on their own another 3-4 shows....why aren't we seeing them too?

January 6, 2012 8:18 PM

I have to say I love Sarah, but I also miss Samantha Pynn's Pure Design. I know she has done some specials, but her show was something I made sure I didn't miss!

January 7, 2012 9:40 PM

Would love to see Colin & Justin back, Dirty Business was great too.  Where's Peter Fallico?

January 9, 2012 3:26 PM

Why is Sarah Richardson absent from your winter schedule ?

Please bring her back.

I also think it would be a good idea to have gardening shows in the winter so when sping comes, we will know what to do in our backyard.

January 12, 2012 10:18 AM

I really miss "Buy Me." Will that show be coming back sometime??

January 14, 2012 10:52 PM

Dear HGTV, I really want more Home Heist! I watch the reruns at the weekend as I only discovered this show last summer when I started to plan my condo. I just adore the designs and the sassy wit of Justin and Colin. Will there be a new show or more episodes?

Also, I love Buying New York as thats where I am from before moving to Canada last year, makes me think of home!

I also hope there will be more Location Location,

Thanks,

Mags

January 16, 2012 12:57 PM

Would love to see a show that helps you decorate, that isn't just based in Toronto.....how about the rest of Canada...we all watch HGTV....how about a cross-country makeover show?

January 17, 2012 12:34 AM

No Sarah Richardson...really!  She is the only reason I watch HGTV!  Although, Location, Location, Location, was entertaining.  The rest, boring!

January 18, 2012 5:38 PM

What about Flipping out? Please bring it back Please Please and also The Property Shop where is Tatania....

January 18, 2012 8:08 PM

Flipping Out and Home Heist and for my hubs Holmes on Homes

January 18, 2012 10:09 PM

I LOVED Consumed!!! Bring it back please, at least for the summer season! Thanks!!!

January 19, 2012 10:02 AM

did my last message not work?

January 19, 2012 12:31 PM

Sorry, it seems to have bounced back at me, essence was Million Dollar Listing, but beyond my means. Enjoyed Consumed and really wish J and C Home Heist was on, I love the Brits skill and pure passion. Also anything to help with a small condo, I am out of control in paperwork!

Thanks

January 19, 2012 12:34 PM

Haven't seen a gardening program for years. Gardening - not outdoor room makeover. There's still a few of us out here who'd like to see new ideas for gardens. I'd also love to see other cities beside Toronto as not every Canadian lives in Ontario. It may be a surprise but some Albertans have disposable income and some even have a bit of decorating style.

January 23, 2012 11:28 PM

There's no longer home desing shows !!! Where are the Sarah Richardson, Colin and Justin, Pure Desing and Candace. There's only real estate shows and renos... I was an hgtv addict but I have to say it's boring now.... C'mon, I love Holmes and Baeumler but they're on air all the time...

January 24, 2012 3:22 PM

Look at the schedule, it's either Holmes, House Hunters, For Rent or Propery Virgin ... Without Sarah Richardson I don't have any interrest in watching HGTV anymore

January 24, 2012 3:38 PM

Im with Claudie - love Bryan too but where is Sarah and where is Colin and Justin from House Heist? And how about shows to help me sort out my balconette?

Hugs, Frances, Brampton

January 26, 2012 10:14 AM

Where is Sarah Richardson and Tommy!! I also love Location, Location, Location. I love any shows from England. Where is Jim Caruk?

February 8, 2012 6:19 AM

It's so great to see so many comments from people who feel exactly the same way I do! Where is Location, Location, Location? Sarah Richardson? Flipping Out? Also, it would be nice to see the West represented...I check out the Casting Call every once in awhile but you need to be based in the GTA to apply. The Greater Vancouver area has tons to offer, HGTV!
