Top 5 Friday: Essential Indoor-Outdoor Furniture & Accessories

When purchasing items for our backyard, I usually find myself thinking about whether these pieces are really worth the investment seeing as our summers are so unpredictable. I always try to find ways of extending the life of seasonal furniture and accessories by choosing pieces that look stylish outside as well as in -- if I can bring it inside with the change of seasons, I’m sold.

The Natural
Alkemie; Apartment Therapy

Great as an extra seat for your guests or simply as an accent table, a tree stump is the most natural and versatile choice when bridging the gap between indoor and outdoor.

The Focal Point
 Wednesday; The Seventy Tree

Add flare to your outdoor setting and hang your lighting fixtures overhead. Even without a lit bulb, a pendant light fixture creates an instant visual centerpiece.

The Work Horse
Apartment Therapy; Apartment Therapy

Available in many vibrant and modern designs, these durable and stain-resistant outdoor rugs are definitely worth adding to any high-traffic area of your home.

Old Favourite
Apartment Therapy; Dwell

I’ve always had a soft spot for the twinkle of string lights in the evening, and love nothing more than setting them up inside as well.

Worth the Investment
Hus & Hem; Hus & Hem

Their upkeep is minimal and their style factor is high so if you love that industrial look as much as I do, then metal furniture is a no-brainer!

So, what are your favorite double-duty pieces that you drag outside for the summer?
