New Spring Schedule Starts Monday, April 4 with New Shows, Seasons and Hosts

It's that time of year -- out with the old, in with the new! Our spring schedule starts Monday, April 4 with new shows, new hosts and new seasons of favourites like Income Property, Disaster DIY and Property Virgins.

New shows & hosts! Clockwise from top left: Gail Vaz-Oxlade of Til Debt Do Us Part: Home Edition; Ahmed Hassan of Turf Wars and Yard Crashers; All American Handyman; Decked Out; Frank Fritz & Mike Wolfe of American Pickers

New Shows (all show times are Eastern)

Til Debt Do Us Part: Home Edition
Back to back new episodes premiering on Tuesday, April 5 at 3pm, 9pm & 12am
To save families from the doldrums of debt, each episode of Til Debt Do Us Part follows financial wizard Gail Vaz-Oxlade as she helps families go from red to black by getting to the root of their destructive spending habits. In these Home Edition specials, Gail helps couples cope with a serious financial predicament: will they lose their house if they don't change their ways?

Yard Crashers
Back to back new episodes premiering on Tuesday, April 5 at 8pm & 3am
You never know what you're going to bring home from the home improvement store — maybe some new patio chairs or a bag of cement — or it could be professional landscaper Ahmed Hassan. It's like winning the landscape lottery: Ahmed waits at stores looking for the perfect weekend warriors who could use his help. People go in thinking they're just buying a bag of mulch, but instead come home with Ahmed and his team, who completely transform their landscape.

All American Handyman
Premiering on Tuesday, April 5 at 10pm & 1am
Twenty Americans from across the country have nailed the chance to be crowned the "handiest of them all" in All American Handyman, hosted by the talented Molly Culver. To avoid elimination, contestants must showcase their abilities under the watchful gaze of celebrity judges Mike Holmes and Scott McGillivray, plus a secret weekly judge. All 20 contestants have proven they've got what it takes but only one will walk away with the coveted title of "All American Handyman," a $10,000 Sears prize package and an HGTV development deal.

Decked Out
Back to back new episodes premiering on Thursday, April 7 at 3pm, 10pm & 1am & Friday, April 8 at 3pm & 8pm
Decked Out is an outdoor construction show that follows charismatic designer/carpenter Paul Lafrance through the process of creating backyard decks with a "creative edge" for his roster of clients.

Turf Wars
Premiering on Friday, April 8 at 9pm & 12am
Neighbours battle to win $5000 and the title of the best yard on the block by Ahmed Hassan (also host of Yard Crashers). Two teams, each led by Ahmed's landscape experts, use the same batch of materials and the same time frame to transform their yards into spectacular outdoor spaces. Ahmed is there offering advice, constructively criticizing and at times jumping in to help. In the end, Ahmed (with input from other neighbors) decides who got the better result, but viewers get to see two amazing transformations.

American Pickers
Premiering on Friday, April 8 at 10pm & 1am
This isn't your grandmother's antiquing. Pickers like Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz are on a mission to recycle America, even if it means diving into countless piles of grimy junk or getting chased off a gun-wielding homeowner's land. American Pickers follows them as they scour the country for hidden gems in junkyards, basements, garages and barns, meeting quirky characters and hearing their amazing stories.

April 1, 2011 5:54 PM

Hello,

Is Samatha Pinn going to be back??? She is my fav!

April 2, 2011 6:05 AM

Please enough with the Holmes on Holmes and Holmes Inspection and all thesereno and real estate shows, everytime I turn on HGTV, it's all that's playing all the time. Please get more decorating shows on,I feel this station is turning into a man's station

April 4, 2011 3:09 PM

like Shruti, I would like to know when Peter Fallico's new series will air?   many thanks!

April 4, 2011 3:10 PM

I agree with Joanne.. Too much of Mike Holmes.  What happened to Colour Splash?  that has become my favourite show!!!

April 4, 2011 3:37 PM

yes....... what happened to Color Splash? my first and favorite show every day ........!!!!

April 4, 2011 3:46 PM

What happened to Color Splash....best show ever...my favorite half hour of the day

April 4, 2011 7:01 PM

I would also like to comment on the increasing amount of American content.  We have wonderfully talented people in Canada, please use them more.  American pickers??? All american handyman??? please.  How about a show following a design intern or shows not filmed in Ontario, perhaps SK (Corner Gas made a go of it) Alberta, Prince Edward Island.

April 4, 2011 8:48 PM

Hi folks,

To answer some questions: Peter Fallico's new show is coming later this year. We've come to the end of our run with Color Splash for this season. Sam Pynn will also be back on the site later this year. We appreciate your comments, thanks!

April 5, 2011 9:30 AM

I have grown weary of Sarah Richardson. Her designs are all pastel and very high in glare. Surely, she is not the only Canadian designer.

I keep looking for some programming on gardening, not landscaping. Gardening in Canada presents some very unique challenges. David Tarrant has a page among the HGTV Hosts. David's wisdom for gardening in Canada is priceless. I know that David is getting on in years. Please find someone that he would recommend.

April 5, 2011 10:48 AM

Did Property Shop get cancelled? I enjoyed that show cause in was from Montreal and was really interesting cause we got onfo on house prices and how our markets work for buying and selling.

April 5, 2011 6:41 PM

Sarah 101 and Selling New York are two of my favourite shows but they were not on today.  Is their current season over?

April 5, 2011 7:19 PM

I love American Pickers, hopefully this will inspire a Canadian version.  While I really enjoy the network it would be great to see a return of decorating shows and a little less focus on real estate based shows.  I would love to see a show developed around cottages/summer homes.  Can we not get some Candice Olsen into the programming mix?  I understand she is shown on the US HGTV.  Glad to see Disaster DIY is returning  - I need my weekly Brian fix!

April 6, 2011 12:28 PM

To answer some more questions:

Sarah 101 and Selling New York new seasons are over.

The Property Shop is not on the schedule at this time.

We have Summer Home with designer Karen Sealy coming in the summer, it's a design show about cottage living, it's going to be great!

April 6, 2011 3:07 PM

When will be Design DNA be back?  What a fantastic show and a nice change for HGTV!  My friends and I really enjoyed it.

April 6, 2011 4:23 PM

What about Colin and Justin's Home Heist?  Has that show been left out of the lineup for some reason?

April 6, 2011 5:05 PM

Your new seasons I didn't see Mike Homes,   is he coming back??? I really enjoy the show.

April 7, 2011 12:33 AM

Really happy that Million Dollar Listing is back! Although I'm not sure about the new Josh.....

Also happy to watch new Property Virgins and House Hunters!

Can't wait until Sarah's House 4 airs!

April 7, 2011 1:20 AM

I agree with Lily.  What happened to the G in HGTV?  Jamie Drury had an interesting show last year but now there is relatively nothing or at least nothing new.  Don't forget the gardeners!

April 7, 2011 6:51 AM

I don't really like any of the shows showing now.  Hardly ever watch HGTV.  Like samantha Pynn,  Where is Candace?  Do not like Color Splash.

April 7, 2011 7:05 AM

Absolutely love HGTV.  I believe we have some great programming albeit the seasons seem short.  Sarah and Tommy are talented and funny too.  I often use designs I see on the many different shows to help me find my way.  I'm tired of Mike Holmes and I believe we give him too much credit and air time.... Keep up the great work you do an amazing job of juggling the Canadian content versus US.

April 7, 2011 7:47 AM

I agree that the home design and garden shows are extremely lacking on HGTV. It is rare that I watch it anymore. It used to be my favourite go-to-channel. (Candace is on a new channel.)Bring back more of the decorating please!

April 7, 2011 8:06 AM

I am happy to see the return of Million Dollar Listing.  One of my favourite decorating shows, For Rent, seems to be missing....fabulous and tasteful decorating ideas for small spaces.....wonderfully talented and intelligent host who also has a flare for her own fashion style.  Will also miss Property Shop.  Too much stuff for men, DIY Disaster, Mike Holmes ....I respect Mike Holmes but too much already.  Candice Olson is the ultimate in design and her show seems to be missing.  Please bring back 'For Rent'!

April 7, 2011 8:16 AM

For Rent with Jodi Gilmour my very fave!  Hope she will be coming back!

April 7, 2011 8:23 AM

It is really too bad HGTV. Canada does not really encompass all of Canada. The US HGTV is all over the US. Why does HGTV. Canada think Toronto represents all of Canada. Hey Producers of HGTV Canada have a look around there is WAY WAY WAY more to Canada than just Toronto. And if you took a second to look, you would see the rest of Canada is rather nice.

April 7, 2011 8:30 AM

I have been saying for years now.........why is this called "Home and Garden TV"? the is absolutly no Gardening!!! I never watch HGTV anymore, far to much crap on home renovation and design. Bring back some gardening!

April 7, 2011 9:05 AM

I too would like to see shows other than home selling and DIY all the time.  Where are the sewing & quilting shows that used to be on this channel.  We have nothing like that anywhere on tv.  It would be nice to see some of those come back soon as well as the gardening shows even in winter.  It might help pass the time and brighten some spirits in winter.  HGTV used to be my favourite channel but it isn't any more.  The only thing I watch is Holmes Inspection now.  Tired of all the buying and selling of homes or flipping homes.  Doesn't really happen in real life and most of the stuff you show isn't affordable to the little guy and they are always great big houses that most people outside of Toronto don't have.  We just have bungalows.

April 7, 2011 9:31 AM

I love the British real estate shows.  More please...

April 7, 2011 10:40 AM

I have been watching HGTV over the past 10 or more years, and I am in agreement with most of the other comments, I use to watch it regularly but not very much now. The new shows are not as interesting. In these low economic time we need to make use of what we have. Please give us shows in comparison to Matt & Sherrie and Kitty Bartholomew that we can be creative with what we have. If you can't air them at night, air them in the mornings.

April 7, 2011 10:46 AM

H G T V - we are seeing a lot of the "H", but where is the "G"?  Each year, there are fewer gardening/landscaping shows.

April 7, 2011 10:56 AM

Thrilled to hear that Peter will FINALLY be back later in the year.  Sounds like your Fall line-up will be great with Peter's new show and Sarah's new house...love that type of decorating show.  I agree, we need more "Canadian" designers being showcased.  Mike Holmes is a great advocate for 'doing it right' and making the consumer aware of what to look for and do.  American Pickers?  Really?  Canadian Pickers, which is airing on the History Channel this Spring, would have been more appropriate.   Since we seem to be getting alot more U.S. shows, I would love to see some shows from across the pond again like, Kirstie and Phil's Relocation Relocation and Location, Location, Location.  They also have a new show as well.  Would love to see more of Cracking Antiques but I don't think they have filmed anymore episodes.  There is also Building a New Life in the Country.  Glad there will be a new show this summer on cottages with Karen Sealy.  I also agree that we need more G in HGTV.  Yes, you have landscaping shows but a real garden show with how-to's and design would be better...get one of our great Garden Designers from Canadian Gardening to do a show and call it "Garden Makeover"  or something along that line.  Of the new shows airing this Spring, I look forward to Decked Out.  We just built our own great deck last summer and I'm curious to see what they have to show. I like to watch  Income Property for the makeovers and ideas offered.  House Hunters International is interesting to watch to see what the rest of the world is offering.  Have already watched Til Debt Do Us Part: Home Edition and I can see where this would be helpful in making people more responsible with their money and realize that owning a home is more than just a monthly payment.  As to the rest, I think I'll be reading more books this Spring...but I'm not complaining about that!

April 7, 2011 11:25 AM

I agree with most of the comments.  Too much HOH and pleeeeeease get rid of Ambrose.  Where is Location, Location, Location and Relocation?  They were the best shows on HGTV.  Too much American content now, I've turned to WTV and BBC Canada.  If you come to the west coast you will find that you can do outdoors gardening shows most of the year.

April 7, 2011 12:13 PM

I too, used to be an addict of your channel but in the past years, it has been decreasing...maybe also what was helping me to remember is that we could print the weekly schedule - not anymore. Also, with summer coming, I would'nt mind seeing reruns of Around the world in 80 gardens with Monty Don. How about making a Canadian version of Crafters' Coast to Coast or Kirstie's Home Sweet Home? There are lots of talents out here that needs to be seen and learned of.

April 7, 2011 12:49 PM

Way too much American content!!!!...please bring back our Canadian favourites and content.  Our shows are so much better...theirs are always more about putting on a "show"  with all their "American" style fanfare and not so much about content, design talent or good information..always soooo staged and not fun to watch... I would much rather watch shows from overseas also..and where is Peter Fallico?..and Samantha?  Way too much House Hunters too...so staged...and unrealistic.  Young couples viewing $700,000 homes which are not quite up to their "expectations"...come on!!    I used to be a constant viewer but I do turn to other channels when those American shows come on and I fear I am not the only one. All of my friends also think there is way too much American content.....Also...love..Ambrose..so funny and good at what he does..he is a nice change to your standard design shows.

April 7, 2011 12:51 PM

Why do we need All American Handman or American Pickers???....way too much American content as it is, why bring more?  We have alot of talented designers in Canada..Candace Olson???..where is her show.  She is so talented. Bring back some great British series too...Location, Location, Location for one...great fun show to watch!

April 7, 2011 12:57 PM

I think the plant aspect of gardening should be included not just landscapie design.  Also I would love a show that uses "Deb Nelson" type ideas to decorate - she decorates with clever ideas that we can all afford and they look great.  Tired of seeing beautiful designs that I could not afford in a million years.

April 7, 2011 1:11 PM

enough of design inc... We have seen it way too many times AND I love Sarah Richardson but let that show go!!!  Ditto the remark about Holmes on Holmes.

April 7, 2011 3:51 PM

Sorry to see that Candace and Sarah are no longer on your schedule. I won't be watching HGTV anymore, nor will my friends. First you took away all my gardening shows and now you've replaced legitimate house and home design shows with "American Pickers." If I wanted a course in how to collect junk and try to pass it off as an antique, I'd go to the Sanitation Department or an crooked antique dealer.

April 7, 2011 7:49 PM

Used to love HGTV , love watching mike holmes and house hunters , Can't stand ambrose price , get rid of that show !!!!  Can't stand " Till Debt do us Part " !!!!! Since when is hgtv a counseling channel . come on get real !!!  Can't stand that Ty Pennington's show Home Makeover , way too much screaming and yelling on that show , what it comes down to is not to many good shows on hgtv and might as well give up watching it and just record the shows we want to watch ! Please don't let hgtv go down the drain !  theresa from Cambridge

April 8, 2011 7:49 AM

I keep hearing Home to Keep is coming with Peter Fallico, and is Sarah going to do another House.  Her and Tommy are so fun.

April 8, 2011 11:28 AM

The British shows are the absolute best.  More of them.

No more Ambrose, Ty Pennington, Mike Holmes or Flipping out!

More gardening!

April 8, 2011 1:20 PM

I agree with those who've asked about the British shows. What happened to Relocation, Relocation and Location, Location, Location? They are the best realty programs.

April 8, 2011 3:21 PM

I agree, the British shows are interesting. Too many real estate shows, and not enough decorating in my opinion. Really enjoyed Ambrose! Please put the "H" back in HGTV, and a little more "G" !

April 8, 2011 4:55 PM

Please bring back those british shows like location, location.Dont make me BEG.

April 8, 2011 7:25 PM

STOP with the American shows.....great to hear Karen Sealy will have a show...bring back Samantha Pynn, Peter Falico and other Canadian designers! PLEASE!

April 8, 2011 7:54 PM

I'll take re-runs of Selling New York over those new shows any day. How about a few more re-runs and a few less infomercials on the weekends!!

April 9, 2011 9:02 PM

What is going on with Peter Fallico's new show. It was supposed to start last fall, then this spring. I haven't been able to find anything about it. Some new Sarah would be nice. And Karen Sealy should be great. Enough of the rerun reruns.

April 11, 2011 10:46 AM

I could  not agree more with those viewers who are demanding more gardening and less American decorating and real estate shows. There used to be great shows that featured tips on plant selection and gardening in Canada's various climate zones. What happened to the "G"? British shows are always wel come.

April 11, 2011 2:58 PM

I would love to see the return of Location , Location Location.

We looked forward to it, on Friday nights. I phoned you

folks to ask about it and never received an answer. While

reading other comments, I see it is very popular!!! Please

 bring it back.

April 11, 2011 7:57 PM

How about bringing back Vancouver designer Kelly Deck and her Inside Outside (I believe was the name of it) show!  She not only encompassed patio/deck design but talked about what plants were best.  Even if I can't use the plants outside in my garden in Ontario, at least I can be inspired by her design.  The wonderful HGTV fans in British Columbia could do both!

April 12, 2011 10:05 AM

Where is Color Splash ??? Our favorite to watch every morning. I agree with others about  Mike Holmes and DIY Brian B. are overdone. Would love some more decorating shows and Curb Appeal. They are disappearing.

April 13, 2011 12:58 PM

I miss color splash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Designed to Sell!!!!!, not watching your new Spring Line-up now, too much Mike Holmes, really you need more decorating shows!!!!, less renos

April 13, 2011 4:15 PM

i want to see handyman superstar the one wich canadian people im sorry but thos guys at all american handyman are the wors i don t know who tell those guy s are a handymans

and im not a canadian but i want to see real thing whit real tools

April 13, 2011 6:54 PM

I love Sarah Richardson and like to see any re-runs. Would love to see the  info-mercials on weekend mornings gone :) I loved Colour Splash too. I absolutely love any of the British shows, any of them! Would like to see the American pickers and Handyman shows moved to the American channel if possible, no offence :) HGTV is my favourite channel to watch, any time.

April 14, 2011 4:54 AM

I stopped watching HGTV because I really  miss the british shows like location, location. At least on BBC Canada I can watch my favourite English shows like Escape to the Country!

April 15, 2011 3:54 PM

We were avid watchers of H.G.T.V. It seems the designer shows have disappeared and you have had no gardening shows for awhile. Very disappointing when we check and there is nothing to watch.  We even enjoyed Jeff on Flipping Out. So many repeats of old shows we tune in very little now. What has happened to H.G.T.V.????

April 17, 2011 10:45 PM

Lots of good comments.  Glad I'm not alone in my boredom with Holmes and my disappointment that Location Location not on.  Also, love Property Virgins, but ENOUGH with the constant repeats.

April 21, 2011 10:09 PM

Exactly when this year will Home to Keep be back? Would like to see more great designers like Sarah and Peter. Also love Jeff Lewis, hillarious! Would like to see less crap like Extreme Makeover  and Carter Can. Looking forward to the cottage show this summer.

April 22, 2011 1:08 AM

This channel has changed so much. The call letters are almost false advertising. It should now be called Realty TV. There are hardly any decorating and design shows and absolutely no gardening shows anymore. Way too much real estate shows and it's extremely boring. I don't watch anymore and don't recommend this channel.

April 22, 2011 4:21 PM

Do you have any plans to reschedule "Curb Appeal' ,  'Location Location Location' or 'Relocation' ? These were my favorite shows and I could not find anything to replace them - PLEASE bring them back !

April 23, 2011 8:55 AM

HGTV is my favourite channel to watch. Really enjoyed watching Ambrose Price, hope there's more in store for him! Loving Decked Out this season, but please, less american programming!

April 23, 2011 12:04 PM

Now that Canadian pickers is on can we get American pickers too? You guys with your Canadian content. What we need is a decent produced show from Canada, everything I watch with Canadain content sucks. We need to develop our skills first and put out a good show.. I want to see American Pickers as well as Canadian Pickers.. Let's face it these guys are buying crap items like moose heads and Indian nickels come on Canada!!!!

April 27, 2011 6:34 PM

Mr. Magoo is right on, all you that want more Canadian content PLEASE!!! Have you seen Canadian shows??? It's as if my highschool kids in the drama department put them on. Wow I just don't believe your comments!! Get out more you people.
