Fall Schedule Starts Monday: New Shows, Seasons and Returning Faves

Clockwise, from top left: Scott McGillivary of Income Property, Selling New York, Sandra Rinomato of Property Virgins and Tatiana Londono of The Property Shop

I hope I'm not alone in rejoicing the dawn of September and with it, all things autumn: boots, sweaters, crisp air-conditionerless air, soups, stews and best of all, new television!  This season, we've got some familiar faces (Hello Scott McGillibabe! I blame Elana for the nickname), new faces and new series. There's a lot of exciting programming coming your way, covering all the things you like best: design, makeovers, real estate and renovations. So let's get to it!

New Series
Color Splash Premiering on Monday September 6 at 10am ET
Design Star
champion David Bromstad brings his exuberance, passion, decorating savvy and unwavering belief that "color is the root of great design" to transform tired rooms for homeowners each week into vibrant, unforgettable spaces -- while he teaches us to do the same in our homes.

My First Sale Premiering on Monday September 6 at 2:30pm ET & 8:30pm ET
Think buying your first place is tough? Try selling it! My First Sale takes the proven and successful docudrama format of My First Place and turns it upside down -- telling the story from the seller's point of view. Selling your first place means the stakes are even higher than when you purchased. More pressure, more jeopardy, more to gain -- and potentially thousands to lose. My First Sale has even more drama and, most important, more valuable takeaways to help viewers make top dollar on their own sale.

Battle on The Block
Premiering on Tuesday September 7 at 9pm ET
Battle On the Block
is a fun, character-driven home makeover show where three neighboring families compete against one another in an effort to design and build one new room from scratch, all in the span of a single weekend! The winner not only gets $10,000 but also bragging rights in the neighborhood. You'll recognize host Genevieve Gorder from Dear Genevieve.

Selling New York Premiering on Wednesday September 8 at 2pm ET & 9pm ET
They are assertive, razor-sharp and always compelling real estate brokers in the country's most competitive market. In a city of over 8 million people, where the average sale price is over $2 million, the competition to seal the deal is stiff. Now, catch a rare glimpse into a world where a solid reputation at the top of the real estate food chain involves swimming with the sharks, going head-to-head with the best, and rubbing shoulders with the wealthiest and trendiest of New York's social, political and artistic elite.

Home To Keep Premiering Tuesday, October 19 at 8pm ET
Peter Fallico helps homeowners turn their homes from potentially temporary to for keeps.

Disaster DIY Premiering Thursday, October 7 at 9pm ET
Bryan Baeumler is back to help hapless DIY-ers how to fix it themselves.

Tough as Nails Premiering Thursday October 7 at 2:30pm ET & 9:30pm ET
Watching Cindy Stumpo in action is like watching a tornado tear through a city. With two cell phones glued to her ears, talking on both at the same time, she keeps multiple contractors, employees and even her ex-husband in line as she manages her multi-million dollar construction and development company. And in the middle of this whirlwind, she's a single mother of two. She can sometimes have a short fuse but it's always with good reason. How does she juggle it all and still remain true to who she is in a man's world? She's Tough as Nails.

Back in the booming ninetys there where all kinds of great design shows with inexpensive ideas and creative ways to do designs shots to your home. Now every show is expensive re models or costly changes. All that great info is now on the blogs! Not the design shows.Crazy when you consider all the forclosures and job losses.Kinda wonder if there reading the marketing reports! And they have thousands of creative blogs to find great people and ideas. The first show that represents bloggers will be huge!

get a clue HGTV!

Where's Million Dollar Listing which I love and Home Heist?

These shows took it up a notch.  Glad Sarahs House is back too

Miss Home heist (which I love) and now have to watch in reruns on another channel...and love it or list it type of programming...What about us homeowners on  budgets?  seems HGTV has forgotten the middle class and is now catering to six-figure income families only.  Such a shame....you're missing the point.

September 4, 2010 5:16 PM

when does Tough as Nails start. It does not show on your show page?

September 5, 2010 12:57 AM

Yeah, where is the new season of Million Dollar Listing? It's actually a U.S. Bravo network show, so it'll probably take 10 years to air here on HGTV.

September 5, 2010 1:55 AM

Glad to see Sarah, Peter, Scott, Carter, Sandra and a few others will be returning, however there are  definitely other programs  that I shan't be tuning into due to the   'annoying grandstanding peformances' of their hosts/hostesses.   (Won't mention any names.)     -Brenda-

September 5, 2010 10:09 AM

I don't like the change in the early morning programming.    Dirty Business is a fun show, these real estate shows about unhappy people who can't sell their run down houses, are depressing.  I have turned my TV off.

September 6, 2010 8:32 AM

I'm sick of shows about buying and selling houses, flipping houses, making renovations only to sell houses, game shows where you guess the price of the house and win the house, and anything else involving the transfer of houses. Maybe I live in Bizarro Land, but most people I know spend much more time living in houses than buying, selling, and moving -- and I come from a military family! Do people really love house-hunting that much?

September 6, 2010 9:25 PM

And I am yet again disappointed that design, selling or renovating only happens in Toronto. *sigh*

September 6, 2010 9:52 PM

Hi mary, Tough As Nails premieres Thursday October 7 at 2:30pm ET & 9:30pm ET

September 7, 2010 1:56 PM

What has happened to all the crafting shows that made me enjoy watching HGTV?

September 7, 2010 2:35 PM

I there with Dusty - what happened to all the great shows that made us get so "attached" to watching HGTV - I am so tired of the property shows and who is buying multi million dollar property in NYC - I really miss the great gardening shows that you learned from - oh well - must be getting too old

September 7, 2010 3:54 PM

Anyone knows anything about the return of Flippint out....Miss the dry humour of Jeff Lewis and the gang.....

September 7, 2010 6:23 PM

I too miss the DIY crafting shows full of projects and practical ideas. I don't think age is a factor because I'm in my twenties and I wish there was less million dollar property drama too.

September 7, 2010 10:46 PM

When are the new seasons of Pure Design and Sarah's House going to start? Thanks!

September 10, 2010 12:39 AM

Where is Sarah Richardson.  We  miss all of her shows.....her style is perfection.  Can we get back episodes of her earlier work such as the YURT?  We love her realistic ideas, fun projects and absolutely beautiful sense of  elegance...you too Tommy...where are  you?

September 10, 2010 11:15 AM

where is sarah????? what time are her shows?????

September 10, 2010 11:17 AM

Hi folks, Sarah will be back in 2011 with a new show. We don't know for sure yet if or when For Rent and Flipping Out will be returning and there will not be new episodes of Pure Design. However, there will be more old episodes of Design Inc online soon and Samantha Pynn from Pure Design will also be online with a new series this year.

September 10, 2010 12:18 PM

Any word on when Ambrose Price's new show will air?

September 10, 2010 2:36 PM

She told me you have to watch this woman named Cindy Stumpo from Tough as Nails. She told me a very different show. But she is smart and I have now did a google search on her. People she is amazing. I just sent her a Face Book friendship, she excepted me on both of her page's and was a doll to chat with. She said she does not know which episode they will be airing first. But it was a pleasure chating with just a normal woman. I wished her all the success here in Canada.

September 12, 2010 4:46 PM

" I have a friend in the USA" Funny that you wrote that. I have watched her show her in canada on my dish, I am able to watch HGTV in the states. I was in love with her. You really have to get into the show to understand this lady. I also friend requested her and have spoke to her many time's. She really is a very unique lady. If you do not believe me request her yourself. She said to me which i found amusing. I told her i can not believe i am speaking to a celebrity, Her answer was Ken I am just a builder and a mother. LOVE HER)))))))))))))))))

September 12, 2010 4:54 PM

I live in Toronto

I know Cindy from vacation's in Hollywood FLA.

I can not believe this. I am so excited

She is one Tough lady with a big heart.

I just can not believe this, I just saw her last holiday in FLA

never said a word.

Where are the decorating shows ... enough with the real estate!!!

September 13, 2010 5:49 PM

i agree: more decoration, more gardening and crafting... i'm getting tired of House Hunters & cie...

I must say I disagree with people saying they are only showing renovations for the six figure family income... well... agree and disagree... since we are in 2010, renovation costs are far different from those in the 1990's... which is totally normal because of the inflation... an addition could have cost 30 000 in 1991... but today, you're looking at 120 000$ for about 800 sq. ft.. Beside, you can change everything in your bathroom for 8000$.. but of course, if you watch too many design shows, you might as well wait till you save enough money to get high-end stuff for 20 000... You got to find the right design and materials for your budget...

September 14, 2010 3:16 PM

Can someone tell me if you can watch your shows live on HGTV in Canada. I hear Tough As Nails is coming to your network and would love to watch the series again. I do not have tivo. So if any nice person out there could let me know that would be great.

Thank You from Sandy

September 14, 2010 11:22 PM

I too miss the crafting shows and wish the programers would try and get more on tv. I do love Sarah,Candace,Peter,Scott and Bryan. I find they have very down to earth projects and offer great advice. I am so over most of the REAL ESTATE SHOWS,with the exception of Property Virgins, any show that has Peter Fallico and For Rent.

September 15, 2010 9:17 AM

What is with all this property greed stupidity based shows? And where are the Canadian shows? Obviously HGTV is now being programmed by their US parent. Why should I care about over priced insanity from across the border? Aren't they the ones losing all those over priced properties? Where are the Canadian design shows? Where are the Canadian DYI shows that used to make HGTV fun to watch and helpful? Where is the middle class content that real people could actually relate to? Oh, and by the way, this is supposed to be a Canadian site. It would help if people knew how to spell "colour" properly. Not the American "color". Just a little more proof that our HGTV is no longer Canadian.

September 15, 2010 9:52 AM

I agree with many of the comments here about Real Estate shows.

Personally I feel they mislead the public into believing one MUST have a Vendor,  one MUST upgrade, one MUST  stage,  blah, blah, blah  --  and unfortunately that's just the tip of the iceberg as you don't want to get me started on offers, counter-offers and bidding wars.  LOL!   Basically,  I  just disagree with the current  Real Estate ideology that  has been created and is  being preached.    With no disprespect to those who are in the business.  -Brenda-

September 15, 2010 4:02 PM

I am not impressed with the new line up.Would love to have seen more "dyi" shows and design instead of real estate.Glad Sarah is coming in 2011!!

September 15, 2010 8:02 PM

I have quit watching HGTV as it has become a realtor's station.  I cannot find a program on crafts, refinishing furniture, thrifty ideas, etc.  Few viewers are interested in real estate shows, get it? The rest of us are SICK of them.   We don't have beefcake carpenters to magically transform our homes.

September 15, 2010 11:24 PM

Would love to see a decorating show for us middle class people with a host who can transform your place on a very mini budget with our own  furniture that could be retro fitted or modified to fit the decor instead of buying all new... Sometimes just a lick of paint and a new floor plan can work wonders!

September 16, 2010 6:46 AM

Yikes, agreeing with everyone here but I must add - what happened to The Stagers?  Such a captivating show with great reviews and helpful information - can't believe I don't see it in the lineup.  It was the one show I was looking forward to watching.   Might just ditch the channel altogether and flip through decor magazines from the used book store instead :)

September 19, 2010 3:23 AM
