Modern Country: Loving Lavender

lavender

In the early summer, we harvest a lot of lavender here at Missing Goat Farm. We use it in our blueberry lavender jam, but we also save some for sachets.

Seems my girl is hooked on it too. I'll be slipping a sachet in her pillow case tonight!

I made a drying rack from bamboo stakes and wire. Once the lavender is completely dry, I strip the flowers from the stems.

We found some very happy fabric and made some pocket squares. Pour some dried lavender flowers in each sachet. Stitch up the openings...

...and you have some wonderful scented sachets.  They can be tossed in the dryer with your clothes, in the linen closet between sheets or towels, or tucked into the pillow case of a guest.

Sweet dreams!

I'm not very crafty but this project combines two of my great loves. Lavender and pretty fabric. If only I had a field of lavender at my disposal!

Heather, how I wish I lived closer and could visit your farm. I grow lavender too around my roses...the combination is so romantic. I haven't cooked with the flowers yet. You've inspired me!

I love lavender - when my grandchildren smell lavender they say it reminds them of their Nana.
