Gift Idea: Mother's Day Stocking Stuffers

I wrack my brains every year, as I'm sure you do, over what the H to get my mother (and mother-in-law). This year I'm making it easy. My foodnetwork.ca counterpart, CJ and I, received some product to try from the Cucina line at Fruits & Passion.  This gave me the idea to go with a basket of little things that I know my mom (and mother-in-law) can use (and maybe even like), in lieu of that one, mind-blowing thing that I can never find or quite frankly, afford this year.

The Cucina line (Italian for "kitchen") of household kitchen products, such as dish soap, hand soap and moisturizer, counter spray, and glass cleaner, recently unveiled a new kitchen room spray, which came right in handy to fix the yukky carpet smell in my part of the office.

It turns out I really, really liked it, and decided that my mother would too. She HATES the after-smell of cooking, but won't resort to plug-ins because they give her headaches.

The deodorizing fragrant kitchen spray in their new scent profile, Pink Pepper and Anise, is really quite lovely, and unlike a plug-in is not ever present, wearing on your olfactory nerves. It's also packaged in a recyclable, non-aerosol spray bottle, with no hydrocarbons, alcohol, DE/DEH phthalates, and CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons.) I think mom will like it a lot and I may even opt for the dish soap along with the hand soap and moisturizer duo. Where to buy.

While I know that gifting mom with kitchen-related things is a loaded gesture, I just can't bring myself to care. She likes nice things and I do too. (The packaging is also, incidentally, quite attractive.)

Other items in my mom's gift bag:

  • Mixed CD - mom doesn't have time to find music and I know her tastes
  • A recent framed photo of my little girl
  • Flowers and a nice card

What are you getting mom for her day?

Comments:

I am a big fan of thoughtful gifts. (Yours to your mom is great Elana!) I prefer to do things that involve me spending time with the people I love. Mother and me are having lunch with the siblings, and Mother and Law and my SO and I are having dinner.

The real question is.. Pink pepper and anise? What does that smell like! Fun combination.
