Last month, I was in NYC visiting my best friend, Ramon, and we visited one of my favourite designer restaurants called Nooch.

Located in Chelsea on the west side of Manhattan, Nooch features authentic Thai and Japanese cuisine (for more on the food at Nooch please see my post on Foodnetwork.ca) and it is the premier restaurant designed by Canadian designer Karim Rashid.
The interior is ultra hip and uber modern and every aspect, from the bar to the bathroom, screams Karim Rashid. A small dining space and a modest 52-guest seating capacity ensures that every inch of space is fully utilized, resulting in a cozy, stylish and intimate dining experience. Bold splashes of bright red, orange, blue and green found in the chairs, DJ booth and walls are highlighted by the stark white, black and stainless steel backdrop created by the floors, bar and dining tables (see gallery below). The beautiful chairs take the form of modern shaped pieces of plastic which provide the utmost dining comfort and the discrete details found in the shapes of the steel tables and in the restaurant's decor give new meaning to the term "dining in style."
But wait, if you’re like me and you love a fabulous bathroom - the bathroom at Nooch is truly inspirational. Illuminated by an orange glow, the lighting in the space combined with the modern fixtures and minimal design create an atmosphere which feels like you've entered the restroom from a futuristic sci-fi movie. My favourite part of the bathroom was a kitschy digital scrolling message board located above the mirror that functioned to give some personality to the bathroom by spelling out compliments to unsuspecting patrons such as, “You look amazing!” and "You look great naked!" What’s there not to love about a bathroom that's gorgeous and pays you compliments? Absolutely nothing! (Note to self: find a fabulous programmable digital scrolling message board to install in the bathroom at home)
The interior of this restaurant personifies a modern design style without being pretentious or elitist and whether you're a design and decor addict or not, Nooch is definitely worth visiting!
