What happens when chocolate meets design? That's what Hershey's Canada wanted to know when they challenged designers Karen Sealy and Arren Williams to redecorate a hotel suite in downtown Toronto's Delta Chelsea Hotel, in honour of the new Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar. New Hershey's chocolate? What's that about? Well, after extensive research on our likes and dislikes, Hershey's re-formulated their classic, American milk chocolate recipe to suit our Canadian palette (which is markedly different, see our penchant for poutine).
The designers had to create two rooms - the sitting room for Sealy and the bedroom for Williams - that reflected the warm and happy emotions people associate with chocolate. The classic blue and brown of Hershey's packaging was the colour scheme of choice and even the bar's grid set-up served as art inspiration. Both designers repurposed vintage items to add personality and save money - something we all love maybe even a wee bit more than chocolate.
Stay tuned for a future Taste Test on our sister site, FoodTV -- will we be able to tell the difference? (I say yes, Hershey's claims that the Canadian version is their chocolatiest milk chocolate ever and after tasting it at the hotel, I have to say it's very, very good.)
