Shop Review: Walrus, Vancouver

I can’t remember the last time I felt absolutely giddy in a store, but I was feeling just that this past weekend when I entered Walrus. Located on Cambie Street between 18th and 19th avenue, in Vancouver, Walrus is pure inspiration. Caroline Boquist (who I adore and want to be my new best friend) and Daniel Kozlowski have gathered collections for the home by designers in Vancouver, New York and Europe

Being a magazine stylist, this store is a dream come true. Being a shopper, this is now where I will find that perfect gift for that hard to buy for person in my life.

Walrus carries scary monster plates (that aren’t really scary). Brilliantly creative vases, a simple chicken warmer for your lap and cutting boards that belong on your wall not under your cheese. I’d recommend buying the glass vase covered in chalk board paint and leave a message for you husband. The message will be: “Don’t forget to buy me a paper airplane charm from Walrus!”

They won’t explain the name choice, other than to say a Walrus is a 4500 pound marine mammal. Hmm, interesting...
