Writing about design and decor definitely has its perks. Sometimes we get granted access to some pretty amazing homes and lucky for you, we get to share. This home tour comes to you courtesy of Lamoureux Architect Inc. headed by Brad Lamoureux in West Vancouver.
Designed as a family retreat, this cottage-inspired home is located in the Howe Sound on the West Coast of B.C. The client wanted the space to have a strong sense of structure and obviously some pretty striking design elements but it was also important to incorporate informal gathering spaces like the casual living and dining rooms, with cozy elements like the mis-matched dining chairs and warm, exposed beams.
Also important were the transitional indoor/outdoor spaces that would encourage residents and guests alike to get outside and take advantage of the grounds and beach. The main entrance to the home opens up to an enclosed deck that overlooks the water and lets light in through the glass ceiling.
What do you think? Are you more a city mouse or would you give up your house and move to a country cottage like this one?
