So this week’s Top Five picks were pretty hard, which is why we’ve made it SIX… There are just SO many amazing ornaments out there – how does one even choose? Well, we took a stab at it, and decided to keep it to our favourite ornaments Canadians can actually get their hands on, be it in stores or online.
So here goes….
The Traditional

Teatro Verde, Cardinal Ornament and Snowflake Shallow Globe
Teatro Verde, a favourite store of Samantha Pynn’s of Pure Design, has quite a few lovely ornament options, but these two are our absolute favourite. We just couldn’t choose. The red of the Cardinal, and delicate white lace on the gold orb… Love them both.
The Minimalist

Crate & Barrel, Snowflake Bone China Drop Ornaments
I don’t think we even need to say anything about these. The eyelet snowflake cut-outs, the beautiful shapes – there’s not a tree in the world that wouldn't look better sporting a few of these bone china drops from Crate&Barrel.
The Crafty

Anthropologie Knit Ornaments
Anthropologie, a delightful store soon to make its debut in Toronto, has a slew of quirky, adorable ornaments of which these knit danglers are our pick. There are many knit tree ornaments making their appearance at design retailers, but something about the colour of these and their overall whimsy, makes these stand out.
The DIY

Martha Stewart Living, Jasperware Ornaments
You can always count on Martha to think up new crafts that simply compel you to try them out, despite the fact that they rarely turn out as good as in her magazine. At least with this one you get to play with some clay, find some great molds and personalize with paint - whatever the end result may be, the ingenuity and the kid-friendliness factor makes these hand-made clay ornaments a hands-down must-do for the season.
The Sentimental

This one is my personal favouite. It’s just the cutest thing ever, and not because it’s one of my best friends as a little girl. It’s just such a nice idea! Who doesn’t love photos of cute children, especially when they’re yours, and especially when they’re pasted onto a tree ornament? I love the naive gold star almost as much, but as you may already be imagining, the sky’s the limit with how you choose to make this happen.
The Commemorative

Obama Ornament, Cafepress
We just couldn’t resist. No, we haven’t gone all political, however no one can argue that Obama’s victory in the US presidential election was not a historical event. But all seriousness aside, this is kinda funny, and a little funny never hurt Christmas.
What do you think of these?
